The Role

As a lead game engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving one of our most important game initiatives forward. With your expertise in full-stack web development, you will lead a team of engineers but you aren't afraid to dive into the code when needed. You have a proven track record of leading engineering teams, successfully managing complex technical challenges, and collaborating with multiple stakeholders across different domains. You’ll work from our Helsinki office or your Helsinki home, alongside a team that embraces a hybrid working model.

The ideal candidate for this role highly values seeing a project through from the start of development into release and onward through live development. They are driven to improve team processes, reactive to the concerns of players and stakeholders across the organization, and able to balance innovation risks and opportunities against release schedules and an ambitious project scope.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical ownership and direction for the project's development.

• Effectively communicate and mediate technical discussions with diverse stakeholders.

• Coach and mentor engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

• Build and implement critical components or guide other engineers in these efforts.

• Partner with product and creative teams to deliver a high-quality product that aligns with business goals.

• Drive improvements in team processes to enhance productivity and quality.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Math, or Engineering 

• Experience in web front end development

• Strong knowledge of TypeScript

• Understanding of mobile software platforms (iOS, Android)

• Risk and cost management skills

• Experience in professional, team-based software development with shipped product(s)  and having worked on a user-facing live product or service

• Knowledge of C#

• Web animations (css) /  graphics experience 

• Excellent problem-solving skills

• Proactive, self-starter mentality and a can-do attitude

• Good communication skills and proficiency in English
