Production Manager
Reporting to:
Senior Manager, Production & Value Recovery
Job role and purpose
Unified Production & Logistics (UPL) provides secure, cost-efficient, and environmentally responsible services to customers across every 3stepIT business line. The goal is to deliver high-quality services on time while adhering to national regulations, group policies, and industry best practices. The Production Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the success of 3stepIT's production and warehouse operations as well as take care of the daily facilities operations at our production and logistics centre in Vantaa. The role places a strong emphasis on on-site work, and therefore requires the individual to be present at the location for the majority of the time.
The Production Manager leads, plans, and executes production processes to ensure the delivery of agreed services within the set lead time and budget. The Production Manager has three Team Leads reporting directly to them and oversees the day-to-day operations of the production team, with a focus on meeting operational and financial targets while complying with national laws, environmental standards, and group policies.
The role involves fostering continuous improvement and lean methods, supervising the production management team, and driving employee engagement to maximize team performance. The Production Manager will work closely with the Unified Production & Logistics Management team and will also be part of the Finland Business Unit’s leadership team.
Main responsibilities & tasks:
Leadership & Team Management:
· Lead, coach, and support the Production Management Team
· Ensure daily production targets are met safely, on time, and within budget
· Conduct performance reviews and support training and development plans
· Support standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions (WI)
· Recruit and onboard talents in production to support the growth in collaboration with the team leads
Planning & Execution:
· Be part of the S&OP, capacity, and resource planning to maximize efficiency and profitability
· Plan and manage production workflows to meet customer commitments, lead times, and budgets
· Optimize staffing, equipment, and materials to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
· Ensure production plans and processes comply with customer requirements, laws, and group policies
· Monitor operations against UPL’s operating model to consistently achieve targets.
· Enable the team to deliver customer orders on time and cost-effectively
QEHS & Security Oversight and Compliance & Risk Management:
· Lead production compliance with ISO standards and required audits (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, R2v3).
· Ensure adherence to laws, environmental, health and safety, quality, and company policies.
· Monitor security, environmental, and compliance risks, implementing corrective actions when needed.
· Manage the Vantaa site facility agreement and act as the main contact with the landlord.
· Oversee site security, sustainability, and environmental management, including acting as the official security manager under the rescue plan.
Continuous Improvement and strategic initiatives:
· Lead problem-solving initiatives to address production bottlenecks, quality issues, or operational inefficiencies.
· Foster and drive a culture of lean principles and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
· Participate or lead separately defined and agreed local or group level development projects and/or initiatives.
· Deliver reports and presentations on operational performance and project outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement and Financial Targets:
· Act as a key liaison between production and other functions and departments
· Act as a contact point for daily facility operations and questions.
· Host customers visit together with their own team in the production center
· Monitor operational costs and performance against budgetary objectives.
· Implement key performance indicators (KPI) and monitor performance according to UPL’s operating model.
Qualifications and experience:
· Technician / Vocational qualification in technology, logistics, business, or similar. Bachelor’s/master’s degree preferred.
· +5 years of experience as supervisor/manager in production or warehouse, preferably in technology industry and international environment
· Familiarity with site management
· Knowledge and experience in production, production planning and warehousing
· Experience of ERP and/or asset management systems or warehouse management systems
· Experience of production planning / S&OP systems
· Ability to operate with lean methods to specify deliverable KPI´s and targets
· Planning and reporting skills
· Familiarity with quality standards and health and safety regulations
· Leadership and people management skills
· Strong communication skills
· Fluent in Finnish and English
Please note that the person selected for this role needs to pass the Finnish security clearance (perusmuotoinen turvallisuus-selvitys).
