Our Headquarters is in Espoo, Finland and we have branches in Indiana, US, Munich, Germany, and Tokyo, Japan. Our team of 24 nationalities and global partner network make Visual Components a truly international company.We are looking for an Engineering Lead to launch and guide our brand new UX/UI team responsible for building browser-based 3D modelling, simulation tools, and design user experience and interfaces for all our products.
The core team will include UX/UI designers and front-end developers, along with dedicated PO and QA members from their respective teams. Our team size is typically 5-8 persons.
You would join our colleagues in Espoo or Tampere, but we support you if you prefer to work remotely from anywhere in Finland.As an Engineering Lead, you will create an environment where people and products flourish. You will keep the work flowing, help the team reach decisions without falling into analysis paralysis, and make sure everyone has clarity and trust in how they work together.
Key responsibilities: - Lead and mentor the UX/UI development team through regular 1to1s, focusing on wellbeing and professional growth
- Facilitate team decision making and maintain momentum toward shared goals
- Cocreate and evolve the team’s ways of working (Agile practices, ceremonies, metrics) to ensure a smooth flow of work
- Work with the Product Owner to refine a realistic, value driven roadmap and clear commitments
- Coordinate with the cloud backend and other teams to keep our platform coherent and manage cross team dependencies
- Offer technical and quality oversight, including design reviews, definition-of-done, and testing strategies, while allowing team members to take responsibility for the solutions
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement in process, tooling and product quality
- Writing code is not the primary focus of this role, with an approximate split of 75% leadership and 25% coding. When forming a new team, leading activities take up most of the time.

- Experience leading software development teams in modern web UI/UX projects or product teams
- Hands-on experience with modern web technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, React/Vue) and software development best practices
- Experience in leading / building Design System is of advantage
- Interest in browser graphics technologies such as WebGL, WebGPU and Three.js
- Familiarity with Agile and continuous delivery, and the facilitation techniques that keep teams moving
- Excellent communication, coaching and people skills
- Ability to navigate stakeholder needs and align multiple teams toward a common goal
