Senior Naval Architect

NAVIA is looking for a

SENIOR NAVAL ARCHITECT – Leisure Craft, to join our Boat & Yacht Design Team

Navia Design is a leading Nordic boat and yacht design studio. We help launch, grow, and evolve progressive yards by integrating Design and Naval Architecture. The studio is located in Helsinki, Finland.

As we continue to develop our Naval Architecture team, we are on the lookout for an experienced Naval Architect to join our award-winning group of designers and engineers. 

You will be part of a team in charge of the technical definition and documentation of leisure crafts (motorboats up to 24m), from pre-concept up to follow-up of construction and sea trials.

MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Project lead and follow up from Naval Architecture point of view
• Mass estimation
• Structural calculation (design + scantling ISO 12215-5)
• Stability & seakeeping (calculation ISO 12217-1, booklet and documentation)
• Selection of main components
• Integration of components and network 
• Hull design
• Performance & propulsion calculation
• Rule assessment and approval follow-up
• General technical arrangement & main drawings
• Technical documentation & client communication
• Possibly the management of a project team

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5 years of experience with serial-production or semi-custom leisure crafts (up to 24m)
• Deep knowledge of all aspects of Naval Architecture
• Good knowledge of RCD and associated ISO rules
• Good understanding of composite construction
• Good know-how of mass estimation
• Technical mindset
• Good project management skills
• Curiosity and capacity to learn new skills
• Fluent English
