Staff Site Reliability Engineer

Job Description - Staff Site Reliability Engineer

We’re looking for a Staff Site Reliability Engineer / Staff Platform Engineer to join our Product Engineering organization in our Helsinki HQ and help us make our Platform fully self-service for humans and agents alike.

In this role, you will…

  • Act as a key technical leader across site reliability, platform architecture, and infrastructure scaling.

  • Bridge product, development, and operations by breaking down traditional team boundaries, enabling cross-functional collaboration and scaling business operations.

  • Guide our technical strategy using deep expertise in Kubernetes, cloud systems, SRE practices and modern software development.

  • Ensure our platform is a robust, reliable, and secure foundation for future growth.

  • Focus on solving complex distributed systems challenges.

  • Lead the platform's transition into the agentic era, driving AI Agents ops and development so our infrastructure seamlessly serves and collaborates with both humans and autonomous AI agents.

Your day-to-day work and responsibilities include…

  • Act as the subject matter expert for our cloud-native platform, SRE practices, and agentic workflows, adapting industry standards for Kubernetes, public cloud, and distributed systems to our scaling needs.

  • Contribute to various initiatives (“Lists”), supporting our business goals with the skills and experiences you bring. These may include helping migrate the last legacy services to Kubernetes, improving self-service capabilities for humans and agents, or improving the reliability of our latest products while we scale them to more customers.

  • Other List work may include shaping and building highly reliable, scalable multi-cloud Kubernetes infrastructure that powers AI agent interactions alongside developer tools; improving how we observe system and application performance, with a focus on our use of OpenTelemetry and the various observability platforms we send our signals to; advice on choosing, scaling and generally managing databases across our stack, running PoCs to expand our internal self-service offering as required.

  • Take part in our on-call rotations to ensure high availability, respond to system incidents, and maintain the reliability of our products.

This position is for you if you have…

  • Experience in effectively designing and operating large-scale cloud environments in a platform, SRE, or architecture team, with a focus on enabling self-service capabilities and a great user experience.

  • Embraced Agentic development and operations while not letting that diminish your capacity to think for yourself.

  • Deep experience architecting complex, distributed systems, thinking in patterns and long-term strategy.

  • Guided teams through breaking down monolithic apps and moving them to Kubernetes.

  • Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes, including networking and security across clouds.

  • Direct experience building and/or operating observability platforms, with particular expertise in integrating OpenTelemetry with infrastructure and services.

  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML concepts, inference workloads, AI agent frameworks, and architecting platform capabilities for agentic ops and development.

  • A solid background in software development (Go, Python) with the ability to prototype and write quality code.

  • Experience deploying and running modern databases (relational and NoSQL) in production in cloud native environments (with a preference for Kubernetes).

  • Extensive experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and promoting self-service via developer portals (e.g., Backstage).

Nice to have…

  • Hands-on experience architecting and operating Agentic Platforms, including agentic runtime infrastructure, secure tool-use governance, model/provider abstraction layers, and monitoring/observability tailored for multi-agent workflows (e.g., Model Context Protocol / MCP, agentic memory layers, and token cost tracking).

  • Experience building and promoting a "platform-as-a-product" for internal developer customers.

  • Experience with cloud financial management (FinOps) and architecting for cost-efficiency.

  • Deep knowledge in cloud security, including threat modeling, network security, and identity management.

  • Experience designing and developing reusable, scalable IaC (Terraform modules, Crossplane Compositions) for a wide audience.

  • A history of contributing to open-source projects in the cloud-native space.

Benefits we offer…

  • Competitive compensation package, including equity

  • Great work equipment, and home office allowance for those working in our fully remote locations

  • Health care benefit and leisure time insurance

  • Annual 1000 euros of personal learning budget

  • Sports and wellbeing allowance
