Financial Manager for Suomen Lantakaasu Oy

The joint venture of energy company St1 and food company Valio, Suomen Lantakaasu Oy (SLK), converts manure and food value chain waste into biogas and fertilizers. The aim is to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of transportation and food production while also improving the operating conditions of Finnish agriculture.

In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring and supporting Suomen Lantakaasu’s decision-making processes through financial and operational analysis. You will prepare reporting, analysis, investment calculations, business cases, and scenarios. As projects and businesses mature, your role will expand to include business controlling. You will have the opportunity to develop Suomen Lantakaasu’s financial operations of future with an independent and responsible attitude, supported by the experienced financial teams of both St1 and Valio.

Responsibilities:

• Budgeting and Forecasting: You will be responsible for the planning and monitoring of the budget in collaboration with the parent companies' project development teams. You will proactively identify and highlight potential future risks and opportunities.
• Cost Analysis: You will analyze the cost structure, develop analyses for proactive cost monitoring, and help identify potential risks and savings opportunities.
• Financial Planning, Reporting and Development: You will be in charge of preparing, maintaining, and developing key financial reports and KPI metrics using tools available to SLK and its parent companies. You will analyze these reports and highlight the key points to support business decisions as well as develop best practices, and proactively provide analysis from a financial perspective to support strategic decision making.
• Investment Grant reporting: You will be responsible for the monitoring reports and payment notifications required for investment grants.
• Process Development: You will develop SLK's financial processes and practices in collaboration with the finance departments of the parent companies.
• Collaboration: You will work closely with both internal (particularly finance departments of the parent companies, and procurement) and external partners.
• Audit Participation: You will participate in audits and support the preparation of SLK's financial statements.
• Risk Management: You will support the management of the company’s financial risks and establish practices to ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.

To help you in succeeding in this role you have:

• Master’s degree preferably in Finance or Accounting
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role or from e.g., consulting business, experience from business controlling is an advantage.
• Genuine interest in sustainability and circular economy
• Analytical skills
• Ability to conceptualize complex matters, yet you have attention to details.
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Strong networking and collaboration skills and ability to influence people at all levels.
• Resilience and persistence, you feel comfortable in working in a rapidly changing business environment.
• Experience in process development in financial processes.
• Advanced Excel skills
• Fluency in English is required, and strong proficiency in Finnish highly valued. Knowledge of Swedish, is considered a plus.
