Team Leader, Process Chemistry

Valmet’s Energy Business Unit (BU) is the home of fluidized bed boilers and gasification, pyrolysis and flue gas cleaning technologies. We are looking for a Team Leader, Process Chemistry, to strengthen our Technology Competences department located in Tampere.

Technology Competences is composed of technical experts who focus on research and development activities related to both new technologies and existing products. We are also providing specialist support to other departments in Valmet’s Pulp & Energy Business Line. Other members of the team are specialists in process chemistry, material technology and modelling. The team also participates in field measurements and experimental research in Valmet’s own R&D Center and customer sites.

As a Team Leader, Process Chemistry, you will be responsible for

• Leading a team of experts in combustion, pyrolysis and water chemistry
• Working as an expert in process chemistry
• Coordinating chemistry related research co-operation with external partners
• Planning and coordinating R&D activities in the field of process chemistry
• Providing sales and project support for existing products.

Characteristics, skills and experience that we are looking for:

You have a suitable educational background, M.Sc. in e.g., Chemistry, Energy Technology or Process Engineering. You have good knowledge of process chemistry in energy sector, especially phenomena related to fluidized bed boilers, gasifiers, and pyrolysis. Knowledge of material technology and flue gas cleaning technologies seen as an advantage.

You are a result-oriented, customer-focused team player with a capability to give practical answers to a variety of questions based of solid scientific know-how. You are able to coordinate the work of a team consisting of specialists with different backgrounds. You have a willingness to develop your and your team’s competence. You are fluent in English and Finnish. Other languages are seen as a benefit.
