What kind of summer job awaits you?

We’re on the lookout for energetic summer trainees with a passion for analytics and AI to join our proven and successfully running ‘Discover Metsä with Data’ program, organized for several consecutive years. Within the program, you will get to work in close co-operation with our business experts, and you will be guided by our Analytics and AI professionals in IT – and of course you will get to network with the other summer trainees in the program.

Data is the key driver in many of our business development initiatives and there are various opportunities to discover and explore the data and find new ways of creating business value out of it. We have gathered exciting cases around analytics and AI from our five business areas, and we will select the right one for you based on your background and interests. Your focus for the summer will be around the selected analytics and AI case, but there might be some additional assignments as well.

Metsä Group’s analytics and AI foundation relies on modern tools and technologies, and you will be supported and guided in ways of working with them. During the summer you will see and learn how experienced experts work with data, in a large international organization, to ensure sustainable and scalable value creation. There is an increasing demand towards new insights from data and analytics in Metsä Group. You will get the change to take part in our analytics and AI journey and perhaps, your discoveries will guide us to new directions.

What we are looking for?

For summer 2026, we are looking for three trainees to join Analytics and AI team.

Trainees will work with following topics:

• Data platform and data pipelines development including data modeling and sourcing.
• Business Intelligence and Advanced Analytics development including reporting, machine learning, and generative AI.

At the beginning of your application, state clearly which is your area of interest. In addition, please describe your possible prior expertise or future ambitions in the field you are applying for.

What we expect from you?

We expect you to be reliable, flexible, proactive and a good team player. We value your ability to work independently and your willingness to learn and develop on the job. To succeed in the work, we expect you are third- or fourth-year university student in the field of Data science, Technical mathematics, Statistics or Business Analytics. We value prior experience with statistical analysis and data visualization on Python with large datasets. You need competence in using MS Office tools and we appreciate experience from data and analytics in previous work assignments.
