Research Intern - Cardiovascular medicine devices

The W earables team of the Device Concept Lab is looking for a research intern to join us to participate in a technology study of validation of cardiovascular measurement devices and provide medical understanding for the development of such devices.

Main Tasks:

• Lead validation projects for cardiovascular measurement devices.
• Provide medical understanding for the technically oriented part of the team about the different parts of the cardiovascular system.
• Provide the technically oriented part of the team understanding of normal changes (i.e. temperature, food, chemicals induced) and possible medical condition changes in different parts of the cardiovascular system.
• Provide the technically oriented part of the team understanding of the control pathways of the different parts of the cardiovascular system.

Requirements:

• Medical student or student for a Doctoral degree in Medicine with a background in hemodynamics, blood pressure and/or cardiology with demonstrated proficiency in planning and running in vivo studies in listed domains.
• Knowledge about the physiological signals measurement technologies such as arterial tonometry, arterial ultrasound, photoplethysmography, laser doppler flowmetry and/or medical imaging of the cardiovascular system is considered advantageous.
• Professional knowledge in cardiovascular physiology, and hemodynamics.
• Demonstrable experience in planning and running in vivo and/or in vitro experiments of blood pressure and/or hemodynamic studies.
• Information acquisition, networking, internal and external collaboration, self-imposed
• Proficiency in the programming languages: Matlab, C/C++ or Python.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

It's a plus if you have:

Track record in publishing at prestigious medical conferences.

Starting time: May/June 2024

Internship period: 3-6 months
