Artificial Lift Engineer (ESP)

As we evolve our artificial lift strategy and well performance approach to maximise production from our existing fields, we are seeking an experienced Artificial Lift Engineer specialized in ESPst o play a key role in this new phase of technical optimisation and field enhancement.

In this role, you will act as Assala’s subject matter expert for Artificial Lift (ESP) systems- driving reliability, performance, and innovation across our operations. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure ESP designs, operations, and projects deliver sustainable production gains.

Key Responsibilities

• Optimise ESP Wells: Monitor inflow/outflow, motor load, and pump performance. Lead weekly and monthly analysis and recommend improvement actions.
• Shape Artificial Lift Strategy: Design and validate ESP systems with vendors, manage conversions from gas lift, and ensure wells operate within safe, efficient envelopes.
• Coordinate ESP Projects: Evaluate feasibility in complex well conditions, oversee design-to-installation activities, and support execution with Completions and Wells teams.
• Provide Technical Expertise: Commission and troubleshoot ESPs, mentor field engineers, and promote best practices in artificial lift operations.
• Collaborate with Vendors & Procurement: Support equipment specification, tendering, and delivery tracking to ensure quality and cost efficiency.
• Champion Data & Safety: Maintain ESP performance databases, lead root-cause reviews, and act as focal point for process safety matters involving artificial lift.

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 7+ years of oil and gas experience, including 5+ years specialising in ESP systems.
• Strong background in workover and completion environments, with hands-on experience in ESP installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Familiar with multiple artificial lift technologies (ESP, PCP, ESPCP, SRP, and gas lift) and their application in mature field optimisation.
• Proficient in well and ESP modelling tools (Prosper, GAP, DesignRite, PI ProcessBook, Excel).
• Experienced in cross-disciplinary collaboration with drilling, subsurface, and production teams.
• Analytical, detail-oriented, and results-driven; able to translate data into clear operational actions.
• Strong communicator and team player, confident operating in multicultural, field-to-HQ environments.
• Passionate about continuous improvement, production performance, and safety excellence.
