CARGO ASSISTANT

The CARGO ASSISTANT is responsible for assisting the broker with preparing customs documentation, and ensuring all shipments are cleared at the air and seaports promptly. To succeed as the cargo assistant, the ideal candidate must be polite and prompt, with a commitment to providing clients and colleagues with professional service-focused interactions.

This is a full-time role where the hours of work are typically from 8am to 5pm or 10am to 7pm.

JOB DUTIES

• Deliver a high level of customer service to all internal and external customers to ensure customer satisfaction. and positive working experiences.
• Answer questions from customers about our services. This .includes charges, account opening process and customer service policies.
• Systematically collect, sort and pack cargo in -store on a daily basis.
• Perform inventory counts as needed.
• Ensure the company's vehicle is driven safely at all times, within the stipulated laws of the country.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

• Previous job experience in cargo handling or logistics preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Disciplined and highly-productive worker.
• Well -spoken with an outgoing and friendly personality.
• Ability to adapt and remain professional, especially during challenging interactions with coworkers, external customers and key stakeholders (e.g. port personnel, Customs and Excise personnel etc.)
• Agile with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Licensed driver with ability to drive light goods vehicle up to 10 tons (at least 3 years
• Flexibility with the ability and willingness to work on Saturdays as needed.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and control time effectively.
• Experience working with information technology, as updating of information across various systems is required in this role.
• Ability to remain active and conduct strenuous and physically demanding tasks for long periods of time.
• Minimum of 5 CXC/CSEC passes including Math and English preferred but not mandatory.
