As part of the ongoing development and strengthening of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at École Jeannine Manuel, the implementation of a rigorous and coherent IB Core is a key educational priority.
In order to ensure the quality, compliance, and ambition of the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) component, the School is opening an internal call for applications for the position of IB CAS Coordinator.
This role is intended to lead, structure, and further develop the CAS programme in full alignment with IB philosophy, standards, and practices, and in coherence with the School’s educational vision.
Framework of the Role
The IB CAS Coordinator reports to the IB Diploma Programme Coordinator / Head of IB.
The Coordinator is responsible for the design, implementation, oversight, and continuous development of the CAS programme, a compulsory component of the Diploma Programme aimed at fostering experiential learning, personal growth, initiative, reflection, and responsible engagement.
Beyond its organisational and administrative dimension, the role ensures:
- The quality, diversity, and inclusivity of CAS experiences;
- Full compliance with IB Programme Standards and Practices;
- Individualised guidance of students throughout their CAS journey;
- Alignment between student engagement and the values upheld by the School.
Note: This position has no hierarchical authority over teaching staff.
Main Responsibilities
Programme Leadership & Development
- Design, implement, and continuously enhance the CAS programme in accordance with IB requirements.
- Develop the annual CAS calendar, including timetabled sessions, events, initiatives, and projects.
- Promote the CAS ethos across the school community.
Student Guidance & Monitoring
- Introduce students and families to CAS requirements, expectations, and learning outcomes.
- Support students in planning balanced and meaningful CAS experiences and projects.
- Ensure mandatory attendance and active participation during scheduled CAS periods.
- Conduct required student interviews (initial, mid-point, and final).
- Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback.
- Ensure all students achieve the CAS learning outcomes and complete required reflections.
- Maintain accurate records and formally verify the completion of CAS requirements for the award of the IB Diploma.
Staff Collaboration
- Work closely with the DP Coordinator and subject teachers to ensure coherence within the Diploma Programme.
- Support and guide staff involved in mentoring or supervising CAS experiences.
- Communicate procedures, expectations, and compliance requirements clearly.
Community Partnerships & Safeguarding
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local organisations and service providers.
- Coordinate service opportunities and community-based projects.
- Ensure safeguarding, risk assessment, and health and safety procedures are strictly followed.
Administration & Compliance
- Manage the school’s CAS digital platform and documentation system.
- Maintain evidence and records required for IB authorisation and evaluation visits.
- Ensure full alignment with IB Programme Standards and Practices.
- Promote academic integrity and ethical engagement within CAS activities.
Communication
- Communicate clearly and regularly with students, parents, and staff regarding CAS expectations and progress.
- Promote and highlight CAS achievements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all CAS-related matters.
