Procurement & Contracts Manager

Salary: €57k – €70k per year DOE + company benefits

Location: Paris, France

Hours: Monday to Friday – no weekends

The Opportunity

Our prestigious client is specialised in the development, investment, construction, operation and maintenance of wind power, solar energy and other renewable energy projects, with assets spread across France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden and Senegal.

We are actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement and Contract Manager to join our clients commercial team in the renewable energy industry. The successful individual will be responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of procurement and contract management activities, ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and optimising operational efficiency across the business.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day contract administration support and manage and administer the full life-cycle of the procurement and contracts processes
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in procurement and contracting and develop standards for legally binding agreements, contracts, policies, procedures, templates, tools and system
  • Own the procurement process and support various procurement functions such as strategic sourcing, subcontracting, vendor file management, and assist staff in drafting of requests for proposals, specifications, terms of reference, evaluation criteria and sole source justifications
  • Assist in drafting complex legally binding contracts, agreements or instruments such as non-disclosure, teaming and lease agreements, purchase orders, contracts and subcontracts utilising both custom and standard terms and conditions
  • Lead and assist other Departments of the Company in negotiating contract terms and conditions ensuring that they are as favourable to the business interests as possible, minimise risk and are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Manage major contracts procurement plans in the renewable industry, such as turbine supply, turbine operation and maintenance service, electricity trading and due diligence services
  • Assess, evaluate, analyse and interpret contract or agreement terms and conditions and recommend alternative language, solutions and/or assist in resolving any supplier risk compliance or performance issues, as necessary
  • Exercise good judgment in selecting best contracting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • Examine, evaluate and participate in developing and negotiating contracts and provide technical advice and guidance to minimise risk, ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and policies
  • Provide subject matter expertise, advice, recommendations, training and guidance to staff and management on contractual and procurement related issues, policies, procedures, issues and systems
  • Assist other Departments in ensuring that for all contracts and procurement actions, appropriate documentation is obtained, tracked and maintained within corporate databases, contracts or purchasing (business) systems in an accurate, systematic and timely manner
  • Provide quality assurance and oversight to our clients contract and procurement-related functions by evaluating and identifying gaps in legal instruments, policies, procedures, business systems, processes or tools
  • Recommend and implement updates and/or improvements ensuring organisational efficiency, effectiveness and standardisation

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business / Engineering or any relevant discipline
  • Working knowledge of contract terms and conditions
  • Ability to administer complex contracts
  • Working knowledge of the renewable energy industry
  • Good knowledge of service providers in the renewable industry
  • Maintain excellent negotiation skills in commercial and contract activities
  • Excellent risk analysing and handling ability in commercial and contract activity
  • Knowledge of commercial and contract related laws, regulations, rules and policies
  • Minimum 8 years of working experience in procurement and contract management
  • Minimum 5 years of professional contract/procurement experience in the renewable industry, including but not limited to sourcing, contract negotiation, monitoring and reporting contract performance
  • Bilingual in French and English proficiency
  • Mandarin a plus but not essential
