Job Description Summary

We are seeking experienced Service Technicians for the PBG Wind Farm.

This role supports the safe and efficient operation of offshore wind turbines across the project maintenance phases, with the objective of maximizing turbine availability, reliability, and safety performance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a systematic approach to troubleshooting, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in accordance with detailed technical, quality, and EHS requirements. A safety-first mindset, autonomy, and the ability to build trust within the team are essential.

This role may also include a temporary secondment supporting other offshore wind projects and activities.

The primary location will be PBG site at La Turballe.

The Service Technician performs preventive and corrective maintenance activities on offshore wind turbines and associated equipment in accordance with applicable procedures, technical documentation, quality standards, and EHS requirements. The role is performed within the site team, in coordination with site management and support functions. It includes diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, inspection, maintenance documentation, and contribution to continuous improvement initiatives. The position requires attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively in an offshore environment subject to operational, logistical, and weather-related constraints.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Maintenance Execution

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on offshore wind turbines and associated equipment.

  • Diagnose, inspect, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control system faults in order to support safe and timely back-to-service.

  • Intervene in the event of breakdowns in compliance with technical procedures and applicable safety requirements.

  • Support the safe delivery of power production through continual improvement and standardization of preventive and corrective maintenance activities, with a focus on first-time fix and schedule adherence.

  • Perform electrical work in accordance with site authorization, competency requirements, and applicable procedures on LV and HV equipment.

  • Support corrective maintenance on the mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and associated subsystems of the wind turbine. Ensuring turbine downtime is kept to a minimum.

  • Complete retrofits and other improvement actions as recommended to reduce recurring fault trends and improve production-based availability.

  • Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic drawings, schematics, and technical documentation to support maintenance and fault-finding activities.

  • Safely use approved testing and measuring equipment required for diagnostics, verification, isolation, and maintenance activities.

Safety, Quality, and Compliance

  • Maintain a strong safety mindset and a safe working environment to ensure all work reflects the safety culture and standards required by the business.

  • Apply Lockout/Tagout, LV isolation, and other safe systems of work in accordance with site procedures, AWP requirements, and applicable safety rules.

  • Participate in safety briefings, Tool Box Talks, Set to Work Briefings, incident reporting, and site EHS processes.

  • Report failures, deficiencies, non-conformities, near misses, incidents, or any situation that may pose a risk to people, equipment, or safe operations through the appropriate escalation process.

  • Understand and comply with the site emergency response plan and participate in periodic turbine rescue exercises to maintain a high level of safety.

  • Ensure suitable PPE is used as required for each activity and confirm that it is serviceable and fit for use.

  • Follow site environmental requirements, including appropriate waste segregation and handling during maintenance activities.

  • Experience working under Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR) or an equivalent electrical safety framework.

Documentation, Systems, and Reporting

  • Use CMMS / maintenance management systems and other approved digital tools to analyse, record, and report maintenance activities, parts usage, inspection results, and other required operational data.

  • Complete maintenance records and service documentation in accordance with applicable processes, ensuring traceability of activities, components, and spare parts.

  • Track assigned work scope against relevant KPIs and report progress, deviations, and mitigation actions as required.

  • Follow work instructions, procedures, maintenance documentation, and technical site requirements.

Operational Readiness and Logistics

  • Maintain tools and equipment in a serviceable condition through pre-use inspections, reporting of defects, and quarantine of unserviceable items in accordance with site processes.

  • Support control of spare parts, consumables, equipment, and tooling during mobilization and demobilization activities, including booking in and out where required.

  • Maintain offshore readiness, including valid training, medical fitness, PPE availability, and compliance with travel and mobilization requirements.

  • Adapt effectively to changes in planning, logistics, vessel operations, and weather conditions while maintaining safety and operational discipline.

  • Be able to work a rotational offshore schedule of 14 days on / 14 days off and, where operationally required, shift patterns including night work, in accordance with applicable rules.

Teamwork and Continuous Improvement

  • Work effectively within the site team and in coordination with site management and support functions.

  • Communicate clearly during daily briefings and operational handovers to ensure shared understanding of maintenance priorities, risks, and work scope.

  • Use radio communication systems confidently and professionally during offshore deployment and operations.

  • Contribute technical and operational feedback to support problem solving, lessons learned, quality improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Act as a role model within the organization.

  • Lead small teams or working parties as required and carry out tasks requiring the defined competency level of the role.

  • Train, coach, and develop Competent Technicians (CT) and other less experienced technicians within the team.

  • Complete the required competency framework and on-the-job training in line with the development plan and business needs.

Travel Expectations

  • The role will be predominantly based out of the PBG site in La Turballe.

  • The role requires occasional international travel, depending on operational needs.

  • The role is rotational 14/14 and may be SOV-based or temporarily assigned to other internal projects depending on operational requirements.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Technical training, apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in electrical, electromechanical, electronics, or a related technical discipline.

  • Completed electrical or electromechanical qualification (EQF level 3-4 or equivalent, with demonstrated competency and experience to performed work safely on electrical system in accordance with EN 50110, qualifying as an authorized electrical technician (e.g. EFK/H1-B1 or equivalent)

  • Significant experience in industrial maintenance, ideally in offshore wind, energy, marine operations, heavy industry, or a comparable technical environment.

  • Established electrical or electronical background with proven troubleshooting and fault-finding capability.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.

  • Experience using CMMS or other maintenance management systems.

  • Ability to use electrical testing and measuring equipment safely and effectively.

  • Good troubleshooting, diagnostic, and structured problem-solving skills.

  • Good knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements in an industrial or offshore environment.

  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team and collaborate closely with other technicians, site management, and support functions.

  • Ability to work offshore with vessels and helicopters, at height, and in adverse weather conditions, and to meet the physical and medical requirements of the role.

  • Ability to attend mandatory training and maintain required certifications in accordance with business and site requirements, also during the off rotation.

  • English language proficiency at B2 level minimum, with B2 certificate required.

  • Fluency in French language is a plus.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in offshore wind or a related industrial field.

  • Experience working in offshore, marine, or other safety-critical environments.

  • High motivation level, with the ability to work autonomously and maintain a high level of offshore readiness.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamworking skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing operational, logistical, and weather-related conditions.

  • Experience contributing to continuous improvement, quality initiatives, or lessons learned processes.

  • Experience with LOTO, safe isolation, and safe systems of work in industrial maintenance environments.

  • Experience working with high-voltage plant and apparatus is advantageous.

  • Additional experience with service lifts, cranes, rope access, or offshore transfer operations is an advantage.
