Job Title: Customer Support Engineer(m/f/d)

Reports To: Regional Support Manager for Europe

Location: Berlin (office)

Job Summary:

Applanix (a company of Trimble Inc.) is seeking a Customer Support Engineer to support the Applanix commitment of 'delivering outstanding service and support' through the thorough investigation of product/application problems and timely resolution of customer requests. The candidate will perform product installation/customization and provide after sale support to customers.

What you will do:

  • Provide technical support and advice to customers, internal sales representatives and product managers on applications, product performance, installation and critical topics.

  • Assist in proposal preparation by providing input and clarification for technical details.

  • Participate in the technical training of staff and clients in the use of company products.

  • Collaborate with engineering staff and clients and undertake product installation and complex customization.

  • Respond to customer enquiries and assist in resolving moderately complex problems during installation phases of projects.

  • Provide field product support, i.e. operations support, installation of new systems, customer hardware/software training, general problem solving, product trial/development support, sales demonstrations and undertake business trips (mainly in Europe).

  • Participate occasionally in product technical reviews, impact assessments of new releases and reviews of competitive activity and recommend product enhancements to engineering and sales staff.

  • Prepare documentation with regards to modifications, troubleshooting procedures and problem resolutions.

  • Responsible for maintaining a quality customer database.

  • Responsible for the security and tracking of all products including demonstration equipment, spares stock, equipment on loan and customer owned equipment on premises for repair or evaluation and inventory tasks.

  • Undertake hardware repairs of Airborne (AV/UAV), Land (LV), Marine (MV) and Indoor products.

  • Undertake quoting of spare parts, repairs and training related to post sales activities.

  • Responsible for shipping and receiving system components or complete systems at the Berlin office.

  • Prepare and conduct pre-sales product demonstrations including presentations at specific meetings.

  • Other tasks as required.

About you:

  • University degree, Dipl. Ing., Dipl. Ing. (FH) or equivalent in Geodesy, Geomatics, Surveying, Photogrammetry, Navigation, GIS, Geography, Geophysics or related field.

  • Knowledge and experience in Mobile Mapping, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, i.e. Knowledge in GNSS/IMU technology is preferred.

  • Ability to describe complex technical facts in an understandable way.

  • Knowledge of applicable operating platforms and hardware/software interfaces.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written, English and German).

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Understanding of basic electronic principles.

  • Willing to undertake business trips for training purposes.

  • Ability to manage stressful situations.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines as well as remain flexible.
