Fotografiska, the photography museum, is the Home of Contemporary Culture . Founded in Stockholm, in late 2019 the Museum opened a treasured, historic landmark building in NYC’s Flatiron District. The iconic Stockholm and NYC locations are complemented by expansion in Tallinn, and a forthcoming Berlin Museum set to open in 2023. The Role

Our Beverage Manager leads and influences all facets of the Fotografiska Berlin Beverage programs and operations. They will hold governance across the multi-unit operation in regards to beverage vendor management, inventory control, day-to-day staff management and mentorship, while consistently striving to achieve the strategic short and long-term business goals of the multi-million-dollar Fotografiska Beverage program. The Beverage Manager translates the magic of Fotografiska into future business by consistently elevating and refining Member, Guest and Staff experiences, maintaining a culture of positivity and growth.

Reporting directly to the Fotografiska Director of Food & Beverage with a dotted line to Fotografiska Berlin's General Manager, the role is expected to navigate through ambiguity and will need to be excited by areas of opportunity and lead others to follow the example. The Fotografiska Beverage Manager is a representative of the CultureWorks Global Food and Beverage program, setting the highest of service standards, delivering our core values of generosity, authenticity, curiosity, and kindness.

Requirements

  • 6 + years in a similar role and or managing luxury hospitality/lifestyle hospitality experiences (e.g., F&B/Restaurant/Hotel), serving the creative and/or luxury industries.
  • Proven experience with opening new Restaurants, Bars and Cafés.
  • Financial acumen to support operating a multi-million-dollar business. This candidate should consider their abilities to:
  • Assess the business units on a daily/weekly/monthly basis
  • Provide reports on the economic and operational state of the business that trigger the development of action plans to support operational improvements including accurate unit forecasting and documentation to support
  • Optimize profit, minimize margins and promote exceptional experience(s) for Members, Guest, and Staff.
  • Ability to set the highest of service standards that are unique to the overall CultureWorks group, consistently working to improve the delivery of service, implementing all systems to ensure the smooth running of service.
  • Ability to provide oversight and day-to-day direction when needed to multiple food and beverage units including but not limited to the Verōnika Restaurant, Studio Bar, Chapel Bar and Cafe operations.
  • The role requires full professional fluency in both German and English.

Administrative

  • Oversee all Fotografiska Berlin F&B outlets, beverage ordering and receiving including the storage of all goods.
  • Audit monthly inventory and input into Bevager or similar inventory management program.
  • Update, maintain and create beverage menus in relation to the multiple beverage units.
  • Working in conjunction with multiple business units navigating through various priorities including but not limited to expanding current beverage offerings to address multiple audiences.
  • Development of maintenance programs and staff culture, ensuring staff are trained to handle equipment safely and the venue is treated with respect so that maintenance costs are kept to a minimum.
  • Regularly meet with Leadership teams to develop and execute standard operating procedures identifying discretionary revenue opportunities while maintaining the integrity of the brand.
  • The ability to guide, develop and implement operational excellence decisions that become SOPs by outlining policies, procedures, and systems to improve our business and staff experience.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and statutes including Occupational Health and Safety Legislations and Liquor Acts as pertains to Berlin city regulations.

Team Management

  • Verōnika Restaurant, Verōnika Bar, Chapel Bar and the Lobby Cafe: Governance over teams of dedicated and diversified staff including the following responsibilities:
  • Manage the business unit's organizational chart in conjunction with the Verōnika Restaurant, Verōnika Bar, Chapel Bar and the Lobby Cafe General Managers and F&B Leaders.
  • Recruit, select and develop a qualified staff of service excellence Employees to understand the relationships between value, Member and Guest service and retention.
  • Oversee all Management team’s implementation of cocktail, spirit, wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverage training for Bar and Floor staff across all venues.
  • Build and maintain key relationships with all beverage team leaders and staff with a commitment to sharing best practices, guiding, and listening to a team of professionals
  • Develop training materials and conduct on-site training, as necessary, to ensure the excellence of service and brand standards are always met and exceeded.
  • Structure and attend as required staff Beverage meetings, as well as curate and facilitate appropriate training sessions when needed.
  • Conduct weekly or bi-weekly leadership meetings in conjunction with Fotografiska General Management with clear, concise and measurable objectives.

Finances

  • Meticulously manage the business unit's beverage budgets; schedule frequency meetings to address actuals and adjust forecasting as needed.
  • Submit and catalog invoices in conjunction with standard practices.
  • Schedule bi-weekly meetings with leadership to balance expenses against forecast.
