This role is offered as a one-year fixed-term contract and is a great opportunity for an accounting professional looking to gain valuable experience in a dynamic and international environment. You'll work closely with colleagues across the METRO Group, deepen your expertise in HGB and IFRS accounting, and contribute to projects that have a real impact on the business. From day one, you'll have the opportunity to take ownership, collaborate across teams, and play a key role in supporting our continued growth.
 
As an Accountant, your key responsibilities will include:

• General Ledger Accounting: Maintain accurate financial records for the German legal entity, including accounting and reporting requirements arising from its international business activities. 
• Month-End, Quarter-End and Year-End Closing: Perform all closing activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. 
• Statutory and Group Reporting: Prepare statutory financial statements under HGB (German Local GAAP) and IFRS reporting packages for group reporting purposes. 
• International Coordination: Oversee and coordinate the accounting and reporting requirements for our branch in Italy, liaising with local tax advisors and external accountants. 
• Process Improvement & Automation: Contribute to finance automation initiatives, e-invoicing implementation, and continuous process improvements. 
• Account Reconciliations & Financial Analysis: Perform balance sheet reconciliations, analyze financial data, investigate discrepancies, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records. 
• Shared Services Coordination: Oversee the activities of the shared service bookkeeping team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of accounting transactions.
• Audit Coordination: Coordinate internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to auditor requests, and working closely with internal and external stakeholders. 
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable accounting standards.
