Your mission
As an AI Developer (Backend), you work where it counts: directly on the model, not around it. Training, datasets, orchestration – what you build lands in the product every day and is used by learners and teachers in seven AI.
You actively shape our AI architecture from the ground up on a modern stack (Python, PyTorch, Hugging Face), free from legacy baggage. And with flexible hours between 25 and 40 hours per week, you decide how much you work.
What you’ll do
- You develop AI functionality at the low level: from training and data pipelines to model orchestration.
- You create high-quality training datasets and build robust training pipelines.
- You develop and maintain our AI API server, ensuring stability, performance, and scalability.
- You integrate AI features into our in-house products, working closely with the product team.
- You actively contribute to the evolution of our AI architecture and help shape technical decisions.
What you’ll bring
Must-haves:
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Hands-on experience with PyTorch.
- Hands-on experience with Hugging Face Transformers.
- Experience building training datasets and training pipelines.
- Experience developing and operating backend/API services.
- Fluent English (written and spoken).
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with Spring and/or Kotlin.
- Experience with model orchestration frameworks.
Where you’ll be
This role is based in Göttingen, Koblenz, Berlin or Hamburg and works in a hybrid setup. You combine flexible remote work with regular onsite presence at one of our hubs, as personal exchange is an important part of how we collaborate, learn, and grow together. Being on site supports close cross-functional collaboration, strong alignment across the group, and a real connection to our culture.
