The Scope
Third-party certification is a cornerstone of FSC's assurance system. Today, FSC has service and license agreements in place with over 50 independent certification bodies which audit conformance with FSC standards in the field of forest management and supply chain management for some 70’000 certificate holders in more than 100 countries.
The Assurance Manager will develop normative requirements for FSC’s accreditation and assurance system in accordance with FSC’s standard setting procedures.
FSC is currently undergoing a process to obtain system acceptance by National Accreditation Bodies, in accordance with the European (EC) regulation 765/2008. The Assurance Manager will manage the FSC system acceptance process with national accreditation bodies to ensure continued compliance of the FSC system with applicable accreditation and regulatory requirements on a global scale.
The Assurance Manager will develop and manage relations with national accreditation bodies and international accreditation fora, ensuring that they are kept informed and consulted on changes to the FSC Normative Framework.
Your profile
Education and Training: - Msc University or technical college degree in a relevant field (e.g. quality management, international relations, social sciences, business administration).
Working Experience, Style and Skills: - At least 5 years of work experience in one or more of the following areas: certification (standard development, auditing), quality management (quality assurance, quality control), assurance.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in evolving, ambiguous, or non-harmonized regulatory environments.
- Knowledge and experience in implementation of ISO 17065 and related ISO requirements for accreditation.
- Experience working with, or in the context of, national accreditation bodies and international accreditation fora.
- Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly.
- Experience in drafting requirements is an asset.
- Proven successful project management experience and writing of reports.
- A very strong sense for diligence and accuracy.
- Service and solution-oriented attitude to work.
- Proactiveness and high level of engagement.
- Style oriented on collaboration and team cohesiveness.
- Administration skills.
Computer Skills - good skills in the use of/experience with:- Good skills in the use of/experience with standard software packages (MS Office).
Languages and Communication Skills: - Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to explain complex topics in a simple and user-friendly manner to non-technical audience.
- Experience or demonstrated ability to work in multi-cultural and diverse team.
- Excellent English (spoken and written).
- Spanish and German language skills are an asset.

The Fine Print
- Location: Bonn, Germany.
- Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week.
- Duration of Employment: Temporary contract – 2 years (extension possible, subject to satisfactory performance).
- Travel: Sporadic travel is required.
