Your main activities in this position
As Chassis System Integration Engineer you will be responsible for the integration on vehicle level of new and existing state-of-the-art Electronic Brake or Electronic Steering Systems for vehicle dynamics control. As a team member within a global engineering environment, you will support the system development of new technologies from vehicle level point of view. You will also oversee the validation of system functionalities and vehicle operating concepts in Prototype and Series Production development projects.
This role will cover the integration of both Level 0 non automated (Lvl. 0) and Level 4 automated (Lvl. 4) driving modes.
Responsibilities:
- Test and develop Electronic Brake Systems and their components to match the vehicle requirements
- Support Braking System development of new hardware and mechatronic related software on vehicle level (e.g. ECU controlled components)
- Plan and execute basic tests for control chain and functional safety on vehicle level to help validate simulations and achieve “vehicle sign off”
- Support alternative supplier product benchmark analysis
- Co-ordinate with brake system suppliers and support development on system and on a vehicle level (define and create system/vehicle requirements)
- Build-up of Prototype and Demo vehicle and support vehicle feasibility studies
- Create and execute test specifications for vehicle braking and document results (including alignment of results with simulation studies)
- Integrating physical system models of the active chassis braking components, using intelligent controls through firmware
- Support definition and introduction of new Lvl. 0/Lvl. 4 braking technologies from vehicle level point of view or Lvl. 0 / Lvl. 4 steering technologies
- Updating and maintaining automated simulations that exercise all aspects of dynamic braking behaviour that are influenced by current and future control systems (to include steering at a later date)
- Lead all efforts related to integration including overall vehicle build, commissioning/bring-up of various sensor & actuator systems, and developmental testing on prototype and production vehicle platforms
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical and software development & validation teams across the organization to ensure vehicle platforms are functional and robust
- Identify, document, and highlight cross-functional gaps and dependencies - proactively work towards creative solutions to resolve integration issues and ensure vehicle functionality
- Support systems engineering activities including interface definition, development and testing in coordination with Powertrain, Electrical, Body and HMI systems
- Develop and execute vehicle integration plans related to ADAS & Self-Driving related sub-system integration (specifically with chassis/safety components)
- Support preliminary functional verification of ADAS-related SW releases for braking components - prior to hand-off to Automated driving team
- Support internal teams with preliminary integration of new technologies
