Esther Schipper is seeking a Content Writer & Editor to join its Content & Graphics team in Berlin. Reporting to the Team Lead of the department, the role focuses on researching, writing, editing, and maintaining content relating to the gallery’s artists, exhibitions, publications, art fairs, website, and communications.
Esther Schipper is a contemporary art gallery representing nearly 60 international artists and estates, with locations in Berlin, Paris, and Seoul. With a nearly 40-year history, the gallery produces 12–14 exhibitions yearly in Berlin, alongside regular exhibitions in Paris and Seoul, and participates in major international art fairs.
• Research, write, edit, and proofread texts on artists, artworks, exhibitions, and gallery projects
• Prepare and adapt content for press releases, publications, newsletters, website, art fairs, and social media
• Maintain artist biographies, CVs, exhibition histories, bibliographies, and related documentation
• Conduct art-historical and contextual research and ensure factual accuracy
• Translate and adapt content between English and German
• Use AI tools to support research, writing, editing, and content workflows, applying critical judgement to verify accuracy and sources and uphold editorial standards.
• Maintain and update website, database, and digital content
• Support the gallery’s archive and research library, including digital press documentation, artist reference materials, book research, ordering, and inventory
• Support publication and catalogue projects
• Degree or equivalent experience in Art History, Curatorial Studies, Humanities, or a related field
• Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience in the arts or cultural sector
• Excellent written and spoken English and German
• Strong writing, editing, and research skills
• Excellent attention to detail and factual accuracy
• Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects
• Familiarity with content-management or database systems such as Artlogic, and with Microsoft Office and SharePoint, is an advantage
• Experience using AI tools with a critical understanding of accuracy, source verification, and editorial standards, is an advantage
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Location: Berlin, in person
Working days: Monday to Friday; evening availability occasionally required for gallery events
Desired start: Fall 2026
Salary: €3,500–3,800/month depending on experience and qualifications
