Director Corporate Affairs (m/f/d) 


 


 


The Director of Public Affairs is a senior leader responsible for representing the company’s political and regulatory interests in Brussels, Berlin, and other European capitals. This position demands exceptional political acumen, proven agriculture and technology experience, and a history of managing public affairs teams in dynamic, fast-paced industries. You will actively engage with European business leaders to drive business growth through strategic public policy initiatives, leveraging your expertise in navigating rapidly changing political environments and delivering policy wins.

In addition to the gross monthly salary, the salary for this position (full-time) consists of various special payments. Depending on your experience, you can expect an annual starting salary of between 126.100€ and 157.600€ in this position.


 


Your Responsibilities: 



  • Lead and execute the company’s public affairs and policy strategies, supporting growth, innovation, and sustainability objectives.

  • Represent the organization’s interests by engaging with policymakers, government officials, and industry stakeholders in a constructive and transparent manner.

  • Build and maintain strong, influential relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, industry associations, and advocacy groups.

  • Advise senior leadership on emerging political, regulatory, and industry trends, risks, and opportunities to support informed decision-making.

  • Monitor, interpret, and communicate legislative and regulatory developments, translating complex policy issues into actionable business insights.

  • Drive and implement public policy initiatives and advocacy efforts that deliver measurable impact.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, fostering a culture of ethics, transparency, and responsible engagement.

  • Communicate the company’s policy positions clearly and effectively to both internal and external audiences.

  • Collaborate closely with regional business leaders to align public policy priorities with business strategy and growth objectives.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing public affairs team, promoting collaboration and continuous improvement.


 


What Skills You Need: 



  • Political Acumen & Campaign Experience: Demonstrated expertise navigating complex political environments, with a proven record of leading advocacy campaigns and delivering policy wins specifically in the agriculture or smart technology sectors.  

  • Public Affairs Leadership: Minimum 10 years managing public affairs teams, including experience mentoring professionals and driving high performance in rapidly changing contexts in Brussels and Berlin.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Extensive experience building strategic partnerships with European business leaders, government officials, industry associations, and advocacy groups

  • Public Policy Strategy: Advanced ability to design and execute public affairs strategies that align with business growth, innovation, and sustainability goals.

  • Legislative & Regulatory Intelligence: 8+ years of experience in monitoring, interpreting, and ensuring compliance with complex policy and regulatory frameworks.

  • Crisis & Change Management: Skilled in developing rapid-response plans and adapting strategies to shifting political landscapes and emerging risks

  • Communication & Negotiation: Ability to articulate policy positions, deliver presentations, educate stakeholders as well as influencing outcomes through persuasive advocacy, collaborative negotiation, and coalition building.

  • Document Preparation & Data Analysis: Proficiency in drafting policy briefs, legislative testimony, and executive-level communications as well as analytical skills for assessing legislative impacts.


 


Education: 


Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


•      Bachelor’s Degree: Political Science, Public Policy, Law, or a related field.


•      Advanced Degree (Preferred): Juris Doctor (JD), MBA, Master’s in Public Policy, or a related field focusing on Government Affairs or Public Administration, or JD.



 


This exempt position is based in Berlin and vacant from October 1st 2026.
