We are on the lookout for a Engineer II (Java) to join the Consumer Global Discovery team on our journey to always deliver amazing experiences.



Search is a crucial part of Delivery Hero’s mission to always deliver an amazing experience- fast, easy and to your door. Search teams are responsible for powering search experience in more than 60 countries and 35 languages, enabling 80M+ searches each day across 4 continents. Our data informed culture helps us continuously improve and provide a high quality search experience to our diverse set of users.

Some problems we are working on in the search domain: 

• How do we improve the ranking of search results?
• What is the intent of the user’s search query?
• How do we reduce the zero result rate for our user’s search queries?
• How to make search results and search suggestions relevant to our users?

At Delivery Hero, you’ll shape the global consumer experience for millions of users. Your work will have a direct impact on how we attract and retain customers, creating data-driven, personalized interactions that keep them coming back. As part of our Consumer Team, you’ll enhance customer satisfaction and drive global growth and profitability through innovative projects.

• Experience with setting up low-latency scalable architectures
• Extensive knowledge and working experience with Java Frameworks and SQL databases
• Solid experience in the design and implementation of APIs and design patterns
• Interest in working with Google Cloud and Microservice architectures
• Development and co-ownership of applications used by millions of users 
• Degree in Computer Science or any related field
• The ability to optimize release process to achieve continuous delivery

Nice to have

• Experience working with Elasticsearch/Solr/Lucene and interest in topic of Information Retrieval
• Knowledge and experience in developing search applications and systems
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm and Terraform
• Experience with managing Elasticsearch on top of Kubernetes
