Strategic Constructions and Facility Procurement Buyer

The role:

As a procurement expert and strategist, you will play a critical role in implementing and driving procurement strategies for the construction and maintenance of the fab. You will be responsible for ensuring the cost-effective, timely, and quality sourcing of materials and services, while also navigating the unique challenges that come with working in a dynamic start-up environment. You will need to be agile and adaptable, able to think on your feet and pivot quickly, when necessary, all while maintaining a sharp focus on achieving the company's goals and objectives. Your expertise in procurement will be essential to ensuring the success of the company, and you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact from day one.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and implement effective procurement strategies for the acquisition of construction materials, equipment, and services required for fab construction and ongoing facility management, while ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and advice on local requirements and best practices, including go-to-market plans, bidding, negotiations, and other procurement-related activities, with a particular focus on key construction-related projects.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure the quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of materials and services, and negotiate contracts to ensure favorable terms for price, quality, and delivery.
• Oversee procurement budgets and make cost-effective purchasing decisions, while identifying and managing potential risk factors associated with supplier reliability, cost fluctuations, material quality, and delivery timelines, and implementing strategies to mitigate risks.
• Maintain strong relationships with construction partners by negotiating contracts, overseeing their performance, and ensuring that they meet project specifications and standards.
• Conduct market analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities in the procurement of construction and facility-related goods and services, and work closely with the construction, engineering, and facilities management teams to understand and fulfill their procurement needs.

Qualifications and Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
• Master’s degree in a related field and/or professional certifications in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)).

Must have experience:

• Over 3 years of proven experience in procurement, specifically in construction or facility management, within a semiconductor, high-tech manufacturing or international large-scale company.
• Experience in strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations for large-scale construction projects.
• Experience with partners in CapEx projects, e.g., for JV business.
• Proven experience with responsibility and ownership of product portfolios.

Language skills:

• Full professional proficiency in German and English is required.
• Proficiency in other languages would be a plus to benefit more global coordination.
