About us

Deutsche Telekom offers the position of Executive Data Architect in the area of Data Analytics AI Projects and Governance in the department Product Innovation & Customer Experience (PIC) of the board area Technology & Innovation located in Bonn. Due to a new data science strategy and organization, we are searching for an Executive Data Architect who will be taking care of the entire data architecture strategy and solutions at within the VTI business unit. The candidate will initiate and oversee designing data architecture models and metadata systems and will provide oversight and advice to other data architects who are undertaking the design of data models, support the management and make sure that the teams are working to the standards set for the organization.

Your Tasks

• The key tasks include designing and implementing the data architecture of Deutsche Telekom, delivering a Data Analytics platform as well as building and leading the architect community of Deutsche Telekom


• You will define the target architecture, design roadmaps and roll-out the data strategy and solutions to the business units of Deutsche Telekom and international NatCos


• You will act as a functional leader of an international team of data architects throughout the entire organization Deutsche Telekom. You will build an active Big Data community


• You will monitor and identify appropriate technologies, tools and systems to achieve all data technology goals


• You will provide advice to project teams and oversee the management of the full data product life cycle


• You will work with technical architects to make sure that the systems of Deutsche Telekom are designed in accordance with the appropriate data architecture


• You will act as integrated part of the new end-to-end value creation chain in VTI


• You will act as a trusted technical advisor, main contact and consultant to key customers, top management and colleagues in Deutsche Telekom and other relevant units. You will be advising top management in technological, architectural issues of system development and integration


• You will manage internal and external stakeholders on key technical topics including top management

Your Profile

• Comprehensive expert knowledge with more than 7 years of Data-Management and Data-Architectures


• Strong expertise in Big Data Applications (hdfs, hive, impala, kudu, hbase, ELK etc.)


• Very good overview of different architecture methods and concepts like Togaf, ITIL, BPMN, UML, Mesh etc.


• Deep understanding of concepts and principles of Streaming - as well as API/Micro Service - architectures and Data warehouses


• Experience in software development, open source programming languages


• Strong knowledge of cloud technologies like AWS, Azure etc.


• AI / KI exposure and very good understanding of the decision engine concepts


• Rich and comprehensive experience in understanding the impact of emerging trends on the organization in data tools, analysis techniques and data usage


• Strong networking skills (both external & internal) - Successful engagement with customers, specifically on top Management level and key stakeholders


• Managing stakeholder expectations by being as well highly flexible as well as driving proactive and reactive communication. Being able and motivated to facilitate difficult discussions within the team or with diverse senior stakeholders


• Excellent strategic and analytical thinking and execution skills. Resilient, able to adapt both her-/himself and teams to changing environments and business situations


• Extensive and longterm experience in multi-cultural environments and fast-moving, highly competitive markets


• Excellent communication and presentation skills in leading technology strategy discussions including meetings with Senior Management. Should be able to explain complex topics in “crisp simple” language to top management


• Great communicator to both the virtual architect teams but also to all relevant internal stake holders and sponsors within Deutsche Telekom AG and NatCos


• Profound experience in leading cross-functional teams and multi-cultural settings
