Full-Stack Engineer (Frontend-focused) (m/f/d)

.img – itai’s machine GmbH is a digital technology company specializing in modern publishing solutions. With our “journalistic operating system” (.jOS), we offer a cloud-native publishing platform that serves millions of users by connecting to headless CMS systems, processing and enriching content, and distributing it via web and mobile applications. Our clients include national and regional media companies as well as businesses from other industries that rely on a scalable and high-performance infrastructure for digital publishing.

We are looking for a Full-Stack Engineer (Frontend-focused) (m/f/d) to join our team as soon as possible.

Tasks

• Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications and services across our frontend and backend systems
• Build high-performance React/TypeScript interfaces and the systems that turn structured content into print-ready documents
• Solve complex problems around layout, pagination, typography, rendering, and document generation
• Build automated tests and tooling to evaluate rendering quality and prevent visual regressions
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, AI, and Engineering to turn complex requirements into robust, user-facing solutionsContribute to architecture, code quality, technical standards, and continuous improvement of our engineering stack

Requirements

• Strong TypeScript and React (or equivalent modern frontend framework) expertise
• Experience building complex, interactive frontend applications — not just CRUD UIs
• Comfort working full stack, including contributing to backend services and APIs
• Genuine interest in rendering, layout, typography, or document-generation problems
• Familiarity with canvas-based or DOM-heavy editor UIs

Nice-to-have

• Familiarity with paged-media, typesetting, or document-rendering libraries/engines (e.g., headless Chromium + CSS, Vivliostyle, PrinceXML, WeasyPrint, SILE, pdf.js)
• Experience with print/document production, PDF generation, or paged-media rendering
• Experience building visual regression testing or rendering-quality tooling
• Working knowledge of Python — enough to read and understand the services
