Arbeitsbeschreibung - General Legal Counsel / Principal Law Attorney (m/f/d) in Quantum Computing Start-Up

As General Legal Counsel / Principal Law Attorney (m/f/d) you will play a critical role in guiding our company through complex legal landscapes, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. You will support us also in protecting our intellectual property (IP) in close cooperation with external patent attorneys.
  • Develop and oversee the company’s legal strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, providing legal consultancy to internal stakeholders on a wide legal range 
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations and that all contracts reflect the company’s best interests and comply with applicable laws
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of complex agreements and contracts 
  • Identify and manage legal risks, implementing proactive strategies to mitigate potential issues;  advise on risk-related aspects of business decisions and operations
  • Implement and maintain a system for contract data management, including digital storage, filing, and organization of all legal documents
  • Track and manage contract lifecycles, including monitoring key dates such as renewals and expirations, ensuring timely action
  • Lead and mentor the Legal and IP team, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement
  • Support the development, protection, and management of the company’s IP portfolio, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets in close collaboration with external patent attorneys
  • Completed studies in law or legal studies or equivalent qualifications
  • Significant professional experience with a relevant portion in the technology sector, preferably within quantum computing, AI, or a related deep tech field
  • Proven track record of managing complex legal issues in a corporate environment
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to align legal strategies with business goals
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior leadership
  • Background in IP law or technical degree related to quantum computing or computer science would be an advantage
