What does the role of GL Accountant look like at our company?

As GL Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records. You will be responsible for the day-to-day general ledger activities, monthly and year-end closings, and supporting financial reporting in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Highlights of your responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and provisions.

• Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings.

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and follow up on discrepancies.

• Support financial reporting and analysis in line with local GAAP and IFRS.

• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documentation and explanations.

• Collaborate closely with AP, AR, controlling, and other finance stakeholders.

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.

• Support tax, compliance, and statutory reporting activities.

What we are looking for in you

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• You have 4-6 years of experience in a general ledger or accounting role.

• Solid knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS and/or local GAAP), and advanced knowledge of VAT rules and tax laws.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Comfortable working with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar).

• Strong knowledge of Excel applications, and the Microsoft Office package.

• Structured, reliable, and able to work independently.

• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

• Fluent in English and German; additional languages are a plus.
