GL accountant – German speaking

Reporting line: this role will report to the European Senior Finance & Accounting Manager

Employment Status: Full-Time

Location: Moerfelden-Walldorf (Frankfurt, Germany)

Roles and Responsibilities

Support the accounting manager for Germany who is responsible for day to day finance operations, Accounts payable and receivable, General Ledger, Treasury, financial reporting, internal control, local GAAP/ Corp. policies & SOPs compliance and tax filings.

Partner with 4 colleagues who perform functions in accounts payable, accounts receivable, daily payment creation and booking, intercompany transaction confirmations, reconciliations and settlements

Play your part in a timely & accurate monthly financial closing according to the Corp. set target dates, together with necessary profitability/variance analysis and financial packages.

Ensure that account reconciliations are kept up to date and support to ensure that the statutory accounts of the German legal entity are prepared and filed on time in collaboration with auditors and advisors.

Support the treasury functions, including cash management of cash flow planning to ensure sufficient funds available to support smooth operations plus accounts receivable/credit control management.

Work with other Morrison Express accounting teams to ensure that margin on sales to clients are correctly allocated within the group.

Liaise with the local government agencies, bankers, solicitors, company secretary and suppliers for financial and administrative related matters.

Be a backup when required for accounts payable, accounts receivable team members

Qualifications and Experience:

5+ years experience in operational finance including monthly closing and reporting and account reconciliations

Analytical skills and high degree of accuracy

Good written and oral German and English language communication skills

Team player, eager to learn and show initiative

Good knowledge of MS Office in particular Excel

ERP / accounting system knowledge / experience. Ideally have hands on experience with general ledger and an understanding of how accounts payable and receivable systems and processes work

knowledge and experience of German account, VAT, Tax and / or payroll processes and compliance requirements would be a plus
