Head of Digital Platforms (m/f/d)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Head of Digital Platforms (m/f/d) in the international sports and entertainment environment. In this key role, you will take on the strategic and operational responsibility for the digital platforms (web, apps, and social media) and lead a multilingual content team.

With your expertise, you will develop strategies that inspire fans worldwide, increase digital reach, and strengthen brand presence. At the same time, you will ensure that customer acquisition and retention marketing are closely integrated with content strategy and platform management to deliver a consistent, innovative fan experience and sustainably support commercial goals.

In this Role, You´ll: 

• Lead and further develop the multilingual content team, including budget and freelancer management


• Manage platforms holistically with a focus on performance, fan experience, and growth


• Develop and implement international content and channel strategies to increase audience reach and brand presence


• Plan and execute marketing strategies for customer acquisition and retention (e.g. newsletters, push notifications, paid media, social campaigns)


• Use data and KPIs to optimise content, platform performance, and customer journeys


• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to introduce new features and campaigns


• Develop innovative content formats and market-specific go-to-market strategies to engage global target groups


• Optimise distribution models, including content distribution and digital partnerships

Your Profile

• Degree in media, communications, marketing, or comparable field


• 5–10 years of professional experience in digital content/marketing, ideally in sports, media, or streaming companies


• Proven leadership experience in international teams and projects


• Strong expertise in content marketing, platform management, and customer acquisition & retention


• Deep understanding of digital target groups, user journeys, and cross-channel strategies


• Experience in KPI management, reporting, and analytics


• Editorial sense for relevant content and trends in the sports environment, especially football


• Fluent German and English skills; additional languages are an advantage
