Arbeitsbeschreibung - Lead Ruby on Rails Developer, AI (f/m/d)

We are a product company developing a multi-national debt collection platform using Ruby on Rails / Sinatra and running on AWS. With a fully automated and individually tailored approach, we assess the situation of each debtor individually and thus achieve higher repayment rates without burdening the customer relationship. Our Data and Behavioral Science teams utilize purpose-built Python tools to analyze and enrich our data.
Our company has experienced significant growth and we need to continue improving our products and infrastructure to form a reliable foundation for further growth. To drive innovation and enhancement of our AI-based platform, we are looking for you as a passionate and experienced Lead Ruby Developer. In this role you will work with a dedicated tech squad on managing  the AI workflow engine and the cloud infrastructure. Become part of our strong and international team that is transforming the traditional collection industry with innovation and a drive for excellence.
  • Lead and mentor a squad of 5+ software developers, providing technical guidance and support.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and support career development
  • Lead by example with hands-on coding and code reviews, ensuring high code quality and best practices.
  • Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented environment, ensuring clear communication and effective team dynamics.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, high-performance software architectures.
  • Collaborate with the product team to understand and fulfill product roadmap requirements.
  • Work on new features and feature improvements together with internal stakeholders, such as our behavioral and data scientists, workflow engineers, peer Lead Developers, and the dedicated product manager, and oversee the feature's specification, implementation, testing, and go-live
  • Configure, maintain and improve deployment infrastructures, server environments and testing infrastructure.
  • Ensure scalability, performance, availability and security of our systems.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience within the field of web development and software engineering
  • Experience managing a team plus ability to motivate developers to deliver great results
  • Excellent knowledge of backend and frontend development and technologies, particularly Ruby on Rails, CSS, JavaScript, vue.js; good knowledge in backend infrastructure technologies like Linux, AWS, Continuous Integration/Delivery, Docker
  • Solid understanding of SQL 
  • Deep understanding of architecture patterns such as:
    • Message Queue systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, AWS SQS).
    • Pub/Sub systems for decoupled and distributed communication.
    • Event Sourcing for tracking state changes in complex systems.
    • Microservices architecture, including modular and decoupled service layers.
  • Very good communication skills in English
