Manager / Sommelier | Kleine August (m/w/d)

Kleine August, a new wine bar opening in the heart of Berlin-Mitte, is seeking a Manager/Sommelier to lead its operations and help establish a vibrant, high-level wine destination. With a curated list of approximately 300 wine positions, the role offers a rare opportunity to shape the identity and soul of a concept built around exceptional wines and authentic hospitality.

The Role

As the leader of our wine bar, you will take full responsibility for day-to-day operations – from wine service and team management to guest experience and the overall atmosphere. You’ll ensure proper storage, stock control, and cellar hygiene, including conducting monthly inventories.

With deep wine knowledge and a warm, humble approach, you deliver expert service that feels both personal and professional. You’ll set the standard for hospitality, wine expertise, and service culture, shaping the experience not only for guests but also for your team.

As the face of the bar, you represent us with style, confidence, and a strong connection to the Berlin gastronomy scene. You’ll play an active role in the pre-opening phase, help shape operational procedures, and contribute creatively to marketing, tastings, and community events.

• 3+ years experience as a Sommelier, Bar Manager, or equivalent leadership role in fine dining or wine-focused venues
• Strong wine expertise, including cellar management, classic and natural wine knowledge
• Be connected to Berlin gastronomy scene and its values
• Proven ability to lead a small team 
• Organized and comfortable with tools like Excel, inventory platforms, POS systems
• Fluent in English, German is a strong plus
• A genuine love for hospitality, storytelling, and building something from the ground up
