Basic Purpose and Objective of the Position:


The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing and optimizing manufacturing processes for precision magnetic assemblies and related components at Dexter GmbH/PERMAG’s European production site. The role bridges Engineering and Production by translating product requirements into robust machining and assembly processes. The position supports industrialization activities, process validation and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure manufacturability, quality and cost efficiency. Working closely with global manufacturing teams, the Manufacturing Engineer contributes to the establishment of scalable production standards and supports the ramp-up of PERMAG’s European manufacturing capability.


 


Major Responsibilities:



  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes for precision parts and magnetic assemblies.

  • Define machining strategies including EDM, CNC milling, turning, grinding and assembly processes.

  • Create, adapt and optimize NC/CAM programs using modern CAM systems and CNC controls.

  • Support machine setup, tooling concepts, clamping strategies and process parameter definition.

  • Coordinate prototyping activities, first-article builds and industrialization phases through to series production.

  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, Procurement and external suppliers.

  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation such as work instructions, routings, SOPs and setup sheets.

  • Maintain production master data in ERP/MES systems.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives including Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Design-to-Manufacture and cycle-time optimization.

  • Support process validation, capability analysis and technical problem-solving during production ramp-up.

  • Responsibilities may evolve in line with business needs, within the scope of this role.


 


Qualifications:


 


Education & Experience:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or industrialization within precision machining environments.

  • Hands-on experience with CNC machining, grinding and/or EDM processes.

  • Experience with process development, ramp-up activities and production optimization.

  • Exposure to high-precision industries such as Aerospace, Medical or Semiconductor is advantageous.



     


    Technical Skills:



    • Strong understanding of machining technologies including CNC turning, milling, grinding and EDM.

    • Experience with CAM/NC programming tools (e.g., Siemens NX, Mastercam, hyperMILL, Esprit or comparable).

    • Knowledge of CNC controls (e.g., Siemens, Heidenhain, Fanuc).

    • Understanding of GD&T, tolerances and process capability evaluation.

    • Familiarity with ERP systems and production documentation standards.

    • Basic understanding of machining magnetic materials is beneficial.


     


    Language Skills:



    • German (B2–C1), English (B2–C1)
