  Job-Type:  Full Time (40 hours/week)

Job Overview

Referral Management Center (RMC) technicians are needed in the area of health benefits to advise both patients and clinic staff on specialty care referrals. The technicians track all referrals in the Military Treatment Facility (MTF) and coordinates specialty care for our beneficiaries seeking care at the MTF and all network medical facilities. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency.
  • Knowledge: Knowledgeable in general medical ethics, health records administration, telephone etiquette, office management methods, excellent communications and customer service skills, strong organizational background, and computer operations to include Microsoft Windows and spread sheet type applications.  Personnel must understand the importance of deadlines. Knowledge of coding desirable, but not required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows, and Access
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)  certification
  • Able to type with a minimum of 40 words per minute
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English language.
  • Knowledgeable in general medical ethics, health records administration, telephone etiquette, office management methods
  • Excellent communications and customer service skills
 

DUTIES:

Conduct all Referral Appointing, Referral Tracking, Health Benefit, Coordination, and Customer Service functions to provide Referral Service Coordination. Functions include:
  • Coordinating referral management functions and ensures team members receive information in a timely and efficient manner to facilitate continuity of patient care.
  • Coordinating specialty care referrals in MTF/HN (Host Nation).
  • Reviewing specialty care referrals for appropriateness, covered benefit, and administrative completeness.
  • Making specialty care appointments in MTF.
  • Serving as functional expert in the area of health benefits.
  • Maintaining and tracking referral records.
  • Participating with team members in providing, assessing, and improving a wide variety of customer services/relations.
  • Assisting in the management of all forms of communication between beneficiaries, team members, internal staff and providers, network/outside providers and ancillary health care workers.
  • Orienting new personnel to the RMC team.
  • Preparing and submitting administrative reports.
  • Making specialty care appointments and providing pre-appointment instructions to patients.
  • Providing health benefits advice to patients.
