OPAL-RT Germany R&D Team Lead

As OPAL-RT Germany’s R&D team grows, a team-lead that can coordinate and ensure successful execution of R&D and engineering service projects, both government and industry funded.  

The team-lead, in addition to actively participating in projects, will be tasked with: 

• Developing and executing German-government and European Union funded R&D projects  

• Ensuring that all administrative and reporting requirements for these projects are met 

• Recommending R&D projects and focus areas that align with OPAL-RT’s business development 

• Requesting additional resources and leading the hiring process 

• Coordinating with the team for on-boarding new hires 

•  Coordinating with OPAL-RT headquarters and other subsidiaries to optimize development, share results and ensure that R&D efforts are utilized for the growth of the business 

• Developing processes to efficiently collaborate with sales and FAE teams to provide specialized expertise 

• Ensuring that the R&D team functions effectively with a strong team spirit 
  

A key aspect of the job will be to lead as a colleague rather than in a hierarchical manner, as R&D engineers are autonomous and high performers.  

Job Requirements: 

• Ph. D. or master’s in a field involving real-time simulation with 5+ years of experience working on funded research and industrial projects 

• Experience in budgeting, planning, proposing and executing funded R&D projects 

• Strong communication skills, written and verbal 

• Readiness to handle personnel situations 

• In addition to fluent English, a good working knowledge of German is an asset.
