Purpose of your Job

Our Science and Technology team is looking for a PhD Student in Pharmaceutical Technology, Biopharmaceutics and Molecular Simulations to advance biopharmaceutical drug product development through cutting-edge computational approaches. In this role, you will develop molecular simulations techniques to describe and model the physicochemical stability and behavior of protein drugs in their formulation, and you will design and conduct the lab experiments to establish and validate the generated model. by using state-of-the-art analytical methods. The PhD thesis is in tight collaboration between Coriolis Pharma and LMU Munich, Department of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmaceutics, in close proximity, where most of the work will be conducted.

Your Responsibility

Design and execute laboratory experiments in order to develop and validate innovative molecular simulations techniques.
Develop, validate, and apply advanced molecular simulations techniques (e.g., molecular dynamics and quantum mechanics calculations) to simulate the physical and chemicals stability, as well as the behavior of biopharmaceutical drug products during formulation and drug product development.
Ensure model quality through rigorous validation procedures and documentation.
Translate and present the research outcomes into clear, impactful recommendations for the scientific community.
Contribute to scientific excellence by authoring peer-reviewed publications.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including formulation scientists, analytical and modelling experts.

What you need to succeed

Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or a related field.
Formal training and experience in wet-lab experiments and handling of biological substances.
Formal training or academic coursework in modelling and molecular simulations is advantageous.
Background knowledge in biopharmaceutical drugs, including structure-function relationships, degradation mechanisms, and formulation challenges is advantageous.
Good analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Collaborative and team-oriented mindset with a proactive and open approach to interdisciplinary work.
A passion for scientific innovation, curiosity, and a commitment to staying at the forefront of computational and pharmaceutical science.
