Arbeitsbeschreibung - Postdoc Patient-derived organoid models for endometriosis


The Position


In this postdoctoral role, you will lead an innovative research project focused on developing and applying patient‑derived organoid models to advance drug discovery in endometriosis, an area of high unmet medical need. You will investigate disease-relevant pathomechanisms and exploit your insights for target validation and the evaluation of novel therapeutic strategies within a state‑of‑the‑art research environment. Working closely with interdisciplinary experts across discovery research, this position offers the opportunity to generate high-impact data and gain deep insights into the drug discovery process.


 Tasks & responsibilities



  • In your new role, you will assume full responsibility for a research project, working closely with experienced mentors, and will leverage cooperation opportunities within Boehringer Ingelheim as well as with academic collaborators.



  • In this project, you will characterize patient-derived organoids (PDOs) from endometriosis patients and develop PDO-based co-culture models to investigate critical pathomechanisms of endometriosis.

  • You will further apply these models in drug discovery, including target validation and the evaluation of potential therapeutic compounds to support the identification of novel treatment strategies.



  • Furthermore, you will benefit from a fully resourced and fully funded research environment with access to state-of-the-art tools, technologies, and equipment.

  • You will join Boehringer Ingelheim's global postdoc community, engaging in scientific discussions locally and globally.

  • In close collaboration with your mentor, you will get the chance to publish your scientific results in peer-reviewed journals and present your data at international conferences.

  • In addition, you will gain valuable insights into the drug discovery process.


Requirements



  • PhD in cell biology, biosciences or related disciplines with hands-on experience in primary cell culture, 3D organoid cell culture, fluorescence microscopy, High Content Image analysis, tissue dissociation, flow cytometry, liquid handlers, qRT-PCR/transcriptomics, and ELISA or similar technologies



  • Ability to optimally leverage instrument / technology infrastructure and to address scientific questions effectively as well as excellent data analysis- and data management skills



  • Critical and creative thinking, self-motivation to innovate, and well-organized working style

  • Excellent communication, networking, and presentation skills


Start date: 01.09.2026/ asap
