Product Owner - Digital Systems (m/f/d)

As a Senior Product Owner in the R&D Software Solutions team, you act as the central link between our global development teams and stakeholders. Together with Product Management and the Customer Project Management team, you shape the product vision, manage the backlog, and steer the evolution of our digital cash management and cash logistics solutions — ensuring they deliver real customer value and technical excellence.
You bring together user needs, business strategy, and engineering excellence to make our products even more powerful, scalable, and future-ready.

Key responsibilities

• Lead one or more product development teams delivering secure, scalable Java-based solutions for both on‑premise environments and the Azure Cloud.


• Own, structure, and prioritize the Product Backlog based on customer insights, business objectives, and technical strategy.


• Ensure product security and maintainability throughout the entire lifecycle, including vulnerability management and software supply‑chain governance.


• Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives to drive alignment and continuous improvement.


• Collaborate closely with development teams and stakeholders in Germany and India to ensure clear communication, shared understanding, and seamless delivery.


• Plan and manage releases, including on‑premise deliveries and cloud rollouts in Azure.


• Champion built‑in quality through shift‑left practices, a high degree of automation, and security‑by‑design principles.


• Foster and continuously develop high-performing, empowered teams with a strong software engineering excellence and product mindset.


• Partner with architects and senior engineers to influence key technical and architectural decisions from the product perspective.


• Work with support teams to resolve customer issues, analyze trends, and translate insights into actionable product improvements.


• Contribute to ongoing improvements of our software development processes, tools, and delivery practices.


• Communicate progress, risks, and key updates transparently to leadership and stakeholders.

Required skills

• Several years of experience as a Product Owner or Technical Product Owner in agile software development environments.


• Strong technical understanding of software engineering, especially Java-based web applications, APIs, and modern cloud architectures.


• Experience with Azure as well as on-premise customer rollouts, DevSecOps practices, and automated testing.


• Familiarity with Databricks, data pipelines, and modern BI technologies (ideally Qlik Sense).


• Ability to effectively leverage AI copilots and AI-assisted productivity tools (e.g., for requirement refinement, documentation, backlog grooming, customer insight analysis, and workflow optimization) to enhance product delivery and decision-making.


• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.


• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical topics for different audiences.


• Experience collaborating with international, distributed development teams.


• Organized, reliable, and proactive with a passion for building great digital products.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English.
