About the Role\n\nJoin our R\u0026D organization as part of the Verification \u0026 Qualification team, which ensures that new designs mature into reliable, manufacturable products. Our team operates at the center of the development lifecycle, using systems engineering methods (e.g., V\u2011Model) to connect design inputs, technical risks, and verification activities.\n\nIn this role, you will lead a structured risk assessment process spanning system, design, and process levels using FMECA methodologies. More importantly, you will translate identified risks and failure modes into targeted verification and qualification plans and then execute or coordinate the associated testing. Your work ensures that our electron\u2011optical modules meet performance specifications, achieve industrial readiness, and enter manufacturing with minimized technical risk.\n\nThis role focuses on engineering verification \u2013 providing objective evidence that designs meet their technical requirements and are ready for scalable production.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nRisk\u2011Driven Product Readiness\n\n * Lead structured FMECA activities at system, design, and process levels to identify, prioritize, and mitigate technical risks.\n * Maintain a continuous risk register that directly informs verification and qualification planning.\n\n\n\nVerification \u0026 Qualification Execution\n\n * Develop verification and qualification plans aligned with the V\u2011Model and based on identified risks and requirements.\n * Execute or coordinate execution of verification and qualification tests, including designing experiments, collecting data, and documenting results.\n * Ensure objective, traceable evidence for requirement compliance.\n\n\n\nManufacturability \u0026 Manufacturing Readiness\n\n * Drive the transition from prototype to manufacturable product through structured engineering rigor.\n * Enforce design guidelines and DfX rules to ensure manufacturability, serviceability, and long\u2011term reliability.\n\n\n\nCross\u2011Functional Collaboration\n\n * Work closely with design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain partners to align product readiness with industrialization milestones.\n * Act as the engineering interface for all verification and qualification topics.\n\n\n\nContinuous Improvement\n\n * Enhance and standardize FMECA, verification, and qualification processes.\n * Contribute to knowledge management by capturing lessons learned and known failure modes.\n\n\n\nRequired Qualifications \u0026 Experience\n\nEducation\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.\n\n\n\nProfessional Experience\n\n * Experience in R\u0026D, engineering, or high\u2011tech industrial environments with established production processes.\n * Hands\u2011on experience with verification, qualification, or risk\u2011driven productization activities.\n * Familiarity with FMECA methodologies and structured V\u2011Model processes.\n\n\n\nDomain Expertise (Preferred)\n\n * Experience with electron microscopy, electron\u2011optical modules, or other precision instrumentation.\n * Understanding of DfX principles and their role within a structured systems engineering framework.\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n * Master\u2019s or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related fields.\n * Experience with vacuum systems, high\u2011voltage hardware, or cleanroom practices.\n * Exposure to reliability engineering or lifetime qualification methods.\n * Background in low\u2011volume, high\u2011value manufacturing environments.\n\n\n\nPreferred Skills\n\nRisk \u0026 Verification Expertise\n\n * Strong command of FMECA methodologies (system, design, process).\n * Ability to define, plan, and execute verification \u0026 qualification experiments.\n * Experience building verification plans directly linked to risk assessments and technical requirements.\n\n\n\nTechnical \u0026 Analytical Skills\n\n * Competence in data analysis, experimental design, and evidence\u2011based decision making.\n * Familiarity with CAD tools, simulation software, and analysis platforms (e.g., MATLAB, Python).\n\n\n\nCollaboration \u0026 Process Discipline\n\n * Ability to work effectively with cross\u2011functional teams.\n * Strong commitment to structured engineering approaches aligned with the V\u2011Model.\n * Mindset for continuous improvement and standardization.\n\n\n\n## Qualifications\n\n### Education:\n\nBachelor\u0027s Degree\n\n### Skills\n\n### Certifications:\n\n### Languages:\n\n### Years of Experience:\n\n4 - 7 Years\n\n### Work Experience:\n\n## Additional Information\n\n### \n\n### Shift:\n\nICT Overtime Eligible (Germany)\n\n### \n\n### Travel:\n\nYes, 10% of the Time\n\n### \n\n### Relocation Eligible:\n\nNo\n\n### Referral Payment Plan:\n\nEmployee Referral (Standard)\n\nApplied Materials is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
