Backend Lead (f/m/d)

As the Backend Lead on our Product team, you’ll take ownership of the backend development, and guide a talented team to design and implement impactful features and endpoints. You’ll play a key role in shaping our product, from gathering requirements and assessing technical feasibility to collaborating closely with the machine learning team to harness the power of AI.

Your responsibility: 

• Oversee the design, development, and implementation of backend services, ensuring they meet top standards for performance, scalability, and security.
• Manage a skilled team of senior backend developers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment that encourages professional growth and technical excellence.
• Conduct code reviews, prioritize clean and readable code, and maintain streamlined documentation, setting the bar for code quality and stability in production.
• Build benchmarking systems and scale our API to efficiently handle increased traffic from new customer growth, ensuring seamless experiences.
•  Design high-performance, maintainable server-side solutions that evolve our API technology stack, equipping our customers with cutting-edge tools to achieve their goals.
• Collaborate across departments to gather essential insights, ensuring well-informed, impactful decision-making in every project.
• Take the lead in developing the next generation of our Cognitive Skill Builder, working closely with our machine learning team to bring AI-driven innovation directly into our product.
• Partner with the Machine Learning and Data Science teams to integrate the latest AutoNLU features directly into Studio, enabling our customers to harness powerful new capabilities.
• Share best practices and key insights in software development, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and growth for the entire team.

• 6+ years working with Python and frameworks like Django, Flask, or FastAPI, with a strong command of building and optimizing backend systems.
• Hands-on experience with relational/SQL databases, ensuring efficient and reliable data management.
• Well-versed in software engineering essentials such as unit testing, CI/CD, integration testing, and ensuring code reliability and reproducibility.
• Proven experience leading backend teams or projects, guiding teams to success in both technical and collaborative capacities.
• Familiarity with cloud providers (e.g., Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) and containerization tools like Docker is a big advantage.
• Motivated by delivering exceptional outcomes, you maintain a strategic view, anticipating and solving issues to enhance customer experience.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Professional proficiency in both written and spoken English.
