About the Role We are looking for an experienced and qualified professional for the role of Deputy Managing Director of our Bars & Rods Sales agency in Germany. This is a leadership role, with potential for tremendous growth. The incumbent will have 15–20 years of industrial sales experience in German market, preferably selling Bars & Rods hot rolled products to auto, forging, mechanical engineering, drawing sectors, construction segments. Techno-commercial knowledge, working in a large organization, preferably engineer with MBA from top tier institute will be a distinct advantage. The role requires strong commercial acumen and result orientation, natural flair for customer service, strong work ethic and ability to understand the market trends. The primary role will be sales, managing the sales targets for products produced in the European mills namely Germany, France, Poland, Spain etc. Hence ability to network in a multicultural and matrix environment will be essential.
Aufgaben Customer & Market Leadership - Serve as the primary link between customers and our European mills providing market intelligence, build close customer relationships and deliver the commercial mandate given by the business
- Manage and grow an established customer portfolio, with a focus on strengthening long‑term partnerships
- Lead price negotiations and secure profitable contracts aligned with business objectives
- Conduct continuous market analysis to identify trends, competitive movements, and new opportunities
- Increase our supply share per customer through strategic account planning and solution‑based selling
- Drive the development and promotion of high added‑value products, working closely with technical and production teams
- Lead targeted customer acquisition efforts to expand our footprint in Germany
Internal Collaboration & Performance - Work closely with production mills to optimize supply, resolve constraints, and align on commercial priorities
- Contribute to forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning activities
- Represent the B&R business in customer visits, technical discussions, and commercial reviews
- Ensure high‑quality reporting and documentation using SAP, BI tools, and internal systems
- Ability and experience of leading product management teams and skills to collaborate homologation and product development initiatives in a matrix organization
Profil We are seeking a candidate with the credibility, technical understanding, and commercial maturity to operate at senior level within the steel industry.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in engineering, Mathematics, Physics or Economics from a top rung institution. MBA from top class institute will be preferred
- Proven experience in Steel or Manufacturing sector is essential. Preference for candidates who have experience of selling long products especially, Wire Rods, SBQ, Sections, other long products in Europe
- Proven knowledge of German steel industry and its consuming segments such as Construction, Automotive, Mechanical Engineering, Energy etc.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural, multinational environment
- High level of autonomy, initiative, and accountability
- Resilience, adaptability, and a hands‑on approach to problem‑solving
- Fluent in German and English; any other European language will be an asset
- Strong command of IT tools (Office, BI, SAP)
- Willingness to travel approx. 30 % within Germany and Europe
- Valid driver's license
