Senior Backend Engineer (d/f/m)

As our new Senior Backend Engineer (f/m/d), you'll be joining a tight-knit team of passionate developers who have already made significant improvements to our platform, but we're just getting started. Your expertise will help us tackle challenging legacy code transformation while introducing modern approaches to our evolving tech ecosystem. We're looking for someone who can think strategically, contribute technically, and become an integral part of our collaborative team culture.

You'll dive into our Java-based backend systems and help us continue our transformation journey. This includes: 

• Maintaining and enhancing our core Java application built with Hibernate, Spring Boot and Wicket

• Contributing to our newer services, including our Kotlin/Spring Boot microservice 

• Identifying technical debt and leading initiatives to address it

• Collaborating closely with team members on design decisions and code reviews 

• Participating in our agile development process

• Drive architectural improvements while respecting the stability of our production systems

• Contribute quality code that follows our team standards and best practices 

• Mentor other engineers and share your knowledge 

• Proactively identify potential issues and propose solutions 

• Take ownership of features from design through implementation and deployment 

• Help evolve our development processes and technical practices 

• Participate in on-call rotation for production support (when needed)

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience 

• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot, Hibernate, and RESTful API design 

• Experience with Kotlin is a plus but not required

• Familiarity with transitioning legacy applications to modern architectures 

• Solid understanding of software engineering principles and patterns 

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing 

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail 

• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal 

• Most importantly: passion for technology and a collaborative mindset
