As a Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d) in the Banking & Payment Operations team, you’ll be part of a cross-functional, agile team that ensures smooth and secure loan accounting and cash flows between investors and borrowers.

You will collaborate closely with product and business teams, share your expertise with peers, and continuously raise the bar for code quality and technical excellence. Shape the Future of FinTech: Work in an agile, cross-functional team to develop scalable and secure financial solutions.
Architecture & System Design: Identify and address architectural limitations, make pragmatic trade-offs, and help evolve systems toward scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
Engineering Quality: Build solutions that are secure, scalable, extensible, and cost-efficient while maintaining high coding and documentation standards.
Execution & Delivery: Break down complex initiatives into manageable workstreams and deliver incremental value through iterative development.
Innovate with Modern Architecture: Contribute to our service-oriented architecture and help build reliable, event-driven services using Kafka.
Knowledge Sharing & Engineering Influence: Contribute to a culture of engineering excellence by sharing knowledge, improving team practices, and promoting high standards for software development.
Collaboration & Problem Solving: Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders, actively contribute to design reviews, and address root causes of recurring technical challenges.
Ownership & Mentorship: Take responsibility for challenging projects and guide team members through technical mentoring and hands-on support.
Strategic Thinking & Growth Mindset: Balance short-term delivery with long-term system sustainability and continuously look for opportunities to improve technology, processes, and team effectiveness.
Understand the Business: Gain deep insights into non-technical, business-related processes within a leading FinTech company and help shape solutions that drive real impact.
Maximum Flexibility: Work remotely from anywhere in Germany, with only two office visits per year required.

Your profile

Passionate Developer: You enjoy solving complex problems, writing high-quality software, and contributing ideas in an agile environment.
Backend Expertise: Several years of hands-on experience with object-oriented programming (preferably PHP) and MySQL databases.
Cloud & Containerization Know-How: Experience with Kubernetes, Docker and CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployment and scalability.
Event-Driven Architecture: Familiarity with Kafka and event-driven or service-oriented architectures is a plus.
Testing Enthusiast: Knowledge of PHPUnit or Cypress to ensure robust software quality.
Monitoring & Performance Optimization: Experience with New Relic or similar tools to keep services running smoothly.
Version Control Savvy: Proficient in Git, ensuring efficient collaboration and clean versioning practices.
Finance Enthusiast: Interest in financial systems and processes; experience in FinTech development is a plus.
Product-Oriented Mindset: A strong focus on building solutions that deliver measurable value for users and business outcomes.
Team & Communication Skills: Strong communication skills in English (German is a plus) and a collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and contribute to a supportive engineering culture.
