(Senior) Software Engineer (m/w/d) - Ceph Object Storage

Our Hetzner Cloud team consists of around 70 employees and works both remotely across Germany and from our office in Munich (Unterföhring).

Object Storage is the newest addition to Hetzner's portfolio of storage products. Although it is a relatively new product, it is already an impressive storage system, consisting of multiple clusters with dozens of petabytes of capacity.

We use Ceph as the underlying storage system. To help us operate and scale our large Ceph setups, we are looking for a Software Engineer (m/f/x) who is enthusiastic about Ceph and wants to work on its C++ code base - especially on the Rados Gateway source code.

Our stack in keywords: Ceph, Ansible, Prometheus and Thanos.

• You will improve Ceph and Rados gateway and contribute back to the open source project
• You will backport patches and maintain our internal Ceph build
• You will implement tooling for maintenance and debugging
• You will troubleshoot bugs and performance issues

• You are enthusiastic about Ceph and Object Storage
• You have already or want to contribute to an open source Ceph project
• You are proficient in C and C++, and ideally know Python and/or Go
• You enjoy low-level programming and troubleshooting
• You are business fluent in English, German is a plus
