Sustainable Logistics Expert

As Sustainable Logistics Expert at the Kuehne Climate Center (KCC) you will bring your understanding of global logistics industry operations and organization to shape and inform the activities of the KCC. You will help us build and maintain meaningful partnerships with logistics industry partners and support the design and implementation of new sustainable supply chain and logistics solutions.
 
Next to leading your own research and project activities you will provide industry insights, knowledge of sustainable logistics, and commercial acumen to support the whole portfolio of KCC activities. 

The KCC is a new subsidiary of the Kühne Foundation, and its mission is to accelerate climate-compatible development within and through logistics systems. We do this through applied research & thought leadership, project & advisory work, and training & capacity building, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries. 

KCC is a globally operating think & do tank headquartered in Hamburg’s vibrant Hafencity. From here, we support all our projects, actively partnering with our regional teams and with institutions from around the world.

In a small team with strong growth ambitions (4x in 4 years) you have the opportunity to shape a new institution from early on.

• Understanding and analyzing practices and drivers, as well as customer requirements and market frameworks in logistics and supply chains. 
• Following logistics industry developments and trends and their linkages with climate action
• Business plan design and implementation
• Building and maintaining mutually beneficial partnerships with industry actors
• Communicating about logistics and sustainable development using a variety of tools and techniques 
• Training and advising others on logistics and supply chain management processes and operations
• Writing and communicating complex ideas to reach diverse audiences 
• Project management
• Working with an international and interdisciplinary team 
• Developing logistics solutions and supply chains for sustainability

• 8+ years of real-world logistics industry experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in logistics and/or business administration or closely related subjects
• Knowledge of sustainability initiatives in logistics, supply chain management and transport across different industry sectors (e.g. food, energy, FMCG etc.)
• Track record of implementing innovative logistics solutions
• Experience with business building and management, from startup world or established industries 
• Evidence of commitment to sustainability, particularly climate change
• Good communication skills, ability to present and convince others
• A creator/builder attitude with a can-do mentality and independent work style
• Ability to connect with remote team and leadership
• Willingness to occasionally travel internationally
• Eligibility to work in Germany
• Fluency in English and at least one other language

Demonstrated commitment or experience of working in or with low- and middle-income countries is an advantage.

The KCC is a subsidiary of the Kuehne Foundation in Schindellegi, Switzerland. Established in 1976 by the Kühne family and is one of the largest foundations in the German-speaking world. As an operational foundation it is involved in the areas of logistics, medicine, culture and, since the beginning of 2023, climate action.
