Arbeitsbeschreibung - Systemtechniker:in / Ingenieur:in / Technische Fachkraft (m/w/d)

Join our Remote Sensing team for innovative drone- and aircraft-based environmental monitoring!

About Us
BioConsult SH (www.bioconsult-sh.de) headquartered in Husum on the North Sea coast, is an independent, interdisciplinary research and consulting company specializing in ecology. Since 1998, our international team of over 150 employees has been developing innovative, science-based solutions for sustainable coexistence between humans and nature.
We conduct environmental impact assessments, conservation strategies, and feasibility studies with the goal of resolving conflicts through objective, evidence-based approaches.

Our Remote Sensing department uses digital aerial surveys and long-range drones equipped with high-resolution camera rigs to conduct environmental assessments at sea and on land.

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a technically skilled, well-organized, and communicative person who is enthusiastic about contributing at the intersection of technology, science, and innovation.

Your Responsibilities
  • Technical support, maintenance, and active contribution to the optimization of our camera rigs used on drones and aircraft.
  • Technical support and maintenance of our drones (including long-range drones) and their specific sensors. Training to operate our long-range drones requires a multi-week practical course abroad.
  • Serve as a liaison and coordinator for technical matters between our scientific teams, technical development team, partner companies, and external clients—including communication in English.
  • Creation and maintenance of technical documentation, manuals, and maintenance records.
  • Active involvement in the development of new technical solutions (e.g., optics, sensors, data integration).
  • Technical education or university degree (e.g., in mechatronics, optronics, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or similar).
  • Solid knowledge in the following areas:
    • Windows operating systems, networking technology, and server hardware
    • Sensors, serial interfaces (e.g., RS-232/RS-485), and software APIs
    • Mechanical engineering / design (e.g., CAD, technical drawings)
    • Machine vision and optical systems
  • Experience with low-voltage electrical systems and mechanical maintenance
  • Interest or experience in 3D printing / rapid prototyping
  • Independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style
  • Strong communication skills in German and English (both fluent, including technical contexts)
  • Willingness to travel regularly (e.g., assignments, maintenance appointments, meetings with partner companies)
  • High degree of reliability, teamwork, and flexibility
  • Valid Class B driver’s license (or equivalent)
  • A responsible and multifaceted role with plenty of creative freedom
  • Attractive, permanent full-time position
  • Holiday and Christmas bonuses
  • Modern technical equipment and exciting projects in applied research
  • Flexible working hours and the option to work remotely
  • Workplace in Husum
  • Company vehicle for field assignments
  • Support for your individual professional development
  • Participation in our employee ownership program
  • Childcare allowance and a wide range of additional benefits (e.g., company fitness programs, bike leasing, etc.)
  • A collaborative and appreciative working environment within an international and interdisciplinary team
