Arbeitsbeschreibung - Scientist for Assay Development (m/w/d)

Nanogami is a highly innovative and rapidly growing startup in the field of DNA Origami-based nanotechnology (check out our DLD Talk or this article to learn more). Our international team is driven by a shared vision: to pioneer a novel generation of biochips set to unlock applications in research and diagnostics and thereby pushing the boundaries of personalised medicine to new heights. We recently secured significant funding by SPRIND - Germany’s Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation to realize our ambitious growth trajectory and now aim to significantly expand our current team to support the at-scale commercialisation of our nanotechnology.

Join us as an Assay Development Scientist (m/w/d) and help shape the future of biochips for next-generation sequencing and proteomics.

In this role, you’ll be part of a collaborative team of scientists and engineers, leading the way from early prototypes to commercial-ready products. You’ll focus on developing and fine-tuning DNA origami-based immobilisation and detection methods to enhance our sequencing biochips. By working closely with the commercial team, you’ll ensure your innovations meet both technical goals and real customer needs.

Your Role:

  • Develop and optimize DNA origami immobilization strategies on biochips for next-generation sequencing and proteomics applications
  • Prototype and validate new biochip designs, iterating toward commercial-ready versions.
  • Analyze and interpret high-throughput imaging data, including fluorescence microscopy and AFM.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, physicists, and chemists
  • Provide regular updates to commercial and product teams to align assay development with market needs
  • PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Material Sciences, or a similar discipline.
  • Prior experience in designing bioassays on surfaces for different applications.
  • Prior experience in bioconjugation
  • Experience with different imaging techniques (fluorescence microscopy and AFM).
  • Proficiency in high-throughput data analysis and a strong foundation in surface analysis.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of scientists to optimize biochip performance
  • A positive and open attitude combined with the willingness to learn new things
  • Great English skills

Optional:

  • Familiarity with DNA origami nanostructures and their application in biochip technology.
  • Prior experience in surface-assisted assembly
  • An innovative spirit, with a history of tackling complex challenges and contributing meaningful solutions.
  • Shape the future of diagnostics - be at the forefront of the development of our products
  • State-of-the-art technology package.
  • Accelerated career trajectory.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits structure.
  • An international, collaborative, and supportive work culture.
  • Flexible working models.
