Senior Data Engineer (d/f/m)

• Location: Munich, Germany
• Employment Type: Full-Time, indefinite term
• Salary Range: € 88.000 - 115.000 per year gross depending on the seniority level
• Office-first work setup (1 day home office/week)
• Language Requirement: C1 Level English

• Design, build and maintain our data lake, data warehouse and data pipelines
• Collaborate closely with data scientists to enable the deployment of world-class optimization and machine learning models in production
• Work with other engineering teams to address data infrastructure challenges and establish a unified data model across the company
• Support leadership in defining our data strategy, developing our data technology roadmap, ensuring the continuous adoption of best-in-class data tools

• University degree  in Computer Science or related engineering field
• 5+ years of industry experience in software development with proficiency in Python and functional programming (e.g. Scala)
• 5+ years of industry experience in data engineering roles
• Proven experience working with cloud-based data lakes, data warehouses and developing data pipelines in a production environment
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (e.g. Lambda, EMR, Glue, S3) and managing these services as Infrastructure-as-Code using AWS CDK in production
• Expertise in data engineering technologies, including SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g. DynamoDB, Iceberg, Redshift, PostgreSQL), big data processing frameworks (e.g. Apache Spark, Dask, Ray), and workflow orchestration tools (e.g. Step Functions, Prefect, Apache Airflow).

• Experience in the energy domain
• Experience in working with data science teams and in ML engineering
• Experience in time series databases and time-series data handling
• Background in CI/CD, Machine Learning operation tools (e.g. ML Flow) is a big plus

Hi there!

I’m Sébastien Schikora, and I’ve been driving tech innovation as CTO at Entrix since June 2022 and Flexa since February 2024. My career has been a mix of exciting challenges and opportunities, with a strong focus on transforming the energy industry and reshaping how electricity grids work and the best is yet to come.

• CTO at KONUX (2018–2022): Shaped the company’s tech vision, built world-class products, and scaled technology to solve big problems.

• Senior Manager at Tesla (2015–2018): Led the charge in developing cutting-edge energy storage systems and seamless mobile experiences.

• VP of Product Development at NES Corporation (2014–2015): Helped launch a new company and product line, disrupting grid digitalization.

• Echelon Corporation: Spent six years driving innovation in grid modernization and smart metering, from product management to development leadership.

• Hewlett Packard: Before diving into energy, I spent over a decade refining enterprise software solutions.

Having spent most of my career in Silicon Valley, I bring a mindset that’s all about pushing boundaries, moving fast, and creating meaningful impact. Now based in Munich, I apply that same energy to building teams and driving innovation here in Europe.
