Senior Engineer (Backend & Data)

We are building the world's decision infrastructure — the strategic twin of every industrial organization for complex combinatorial problems. We unlocked what wasn't possible before: mapping reality with its levers and constraints into a computer, then running n-dimensional optimization on critical value-chain decisions. Founded in 2022 by Dana (CEO) and Erik (CTO), we help Europe to stay strong and the German Mittelstand make good decisions between machines, people, materials, orders, and market shifts. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with Erik (CTO) on the foundation our customers will run on for the next decade — the data layer, the math model layer, and the infrastructure for the optimization core. We are looking for an engineer with a bias for action who can balance speed with the mid-term tech strategy and is able to take on complex challenges with independence and curiosity. Here is what you'll own:

• Make optimization runs fast enough that customers iterate in minutes, not hours — across problems an order of magnitude larger than today
• Build the data backbone: ingest SAP/ERP exports, Excel reality, and operator knowledge into a clean, versioned, traceable model layer
• Design the math model infrastructure with our scientists that lets non-engineers compose new optimization models without ever writing solver code
• Take us from single-pilot infrastructure to multi-tenant production — without losing determinism or auditability.
• Set engineering standards with Erik. Be the second voice in architectural decisions. The only voice when he isn't there.
  
  

• 5+ years building backend or data-intensive systems in production — distributed compute, ETL, caching, real workloads
• Industry experience — you've built data or optimization systems for or inside manufacturing, supply chain, energy or logistics. Large ERP/MES exports don't scare you
• Hands-on with optimization, solvers or operations research — Gurobi, CPLEX, HiGHS, OR-Tools, AIMMS or comparable. Bonus: shipped solver-heavy systems to paying users -
• Strong in Typescript and deep in Python; comfortable reaching for Rust, C++ or similar when performance demands it
• Deep interest in semantic modeling, knowledge graphs, math models
• German at C1 level or higher, full working English
• Cologne-based or willing to relocate
