THE ROLE & THE TEAM
The Logistics Development team is responsible for driving speed, efficiency, and continuous innovation across Zalando's expansive fulfillment network. Fulfilling this mandate requires a structural transition from highly manual task execution toward intelligent, end-to-end AI orchestration. To achieve this, we operate within a fast-paced, autonomous Agile POD model, cultivating a decentralized "Citizen Developer" approach that scales automation capabilities across our entire European logistics footprint.

As a Senior Enterprise Automation Engineer, you will serve as the crucial technical bridge between advanced Applied Science research and our operational reality on the ground. You will design, build, and deploy intelligent workflow automations—utilizing enterprise tools like UiPath and n8n—and seamlessly integrate Agentic AI (LLMs) into the daily business processes of our transport, customs, and packaging experts. By developing robust "Human-in-the-Loop" architectures, you will be the key driver in transforming manual, rule-based tasks into supervised independent systems. You will directly empower our logistics teams to shift their focus away from routine data entry, allowing them to concentrate on strategic execution and exception handling for Europe’s leading fashion platform.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• Build intelligent workflows: Design, deploy, and scale robust automations using enterprise orchestration platforms (e.g., UiPath Suite, n8n) to eliminate high-volume manual data entry.

• Integrate Cognitive AI: Leverage advanced prompt engineering to successfully embed Large Language Models (LLMs) into daily business processes to handle unstructured data.

• Establish the standard: Define and enforce baseline development guidelines, ensuring our decentralized bots are auditable, secure, and deployable across the European network.

• Bridge the data gap: Design and manage API connections that seamlessly link legacy enterprise systems (like SAP) with modern AI orchestration tools.

• Drive supervised autonomy: Develop "Human-in-the-Loop" (HITL) workflows that safely manage operational edge-cases, ensuring business stakeholders trust and adopt the automated systems.

• Execute with agility: Collaborate closely with central Tech teams and operational Subject Matter Experts to rapidly discover, build, and push solutions to production within fast-paced sprints.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

• You bring deep, hands-on expertise in developing and architecting workflow automations using enterprise platforms like UiPath Suite and n8n.

• You have practical, demonstrated experience in prompt engineering and safely integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into live business operations.

• You have a solid foundation in basic programming (e.g., Python, JavaScript) enabling you to write custom logic within automation frameworks.

• Intelligent Document Processing (IDP): Hands-on experience with OCR and AI tools to extract structured data from unstructured logistics documents (e.g., invoices, customs forms).

• Process Discovery: Proficiency in Process Mining (e.g., Celonis) or Task Mining to scientifically identify and prioritize automation opportunities.

• Resilience & Error Handling: Proven ability to build "self-healing" workflows and exception-handling frameworks.

• You possess a strong capability in designing, managing, and troubleshooting APIs to create data bridges across diverse internal systems.

• You are a master communicator and stakeholder manager, easily translating complex operational friction from business experts into actionable technical requirements.

• You are passionate about process optimization and thrive in an agile environment focused on iterative and rapid delivery.
